The modern Stone Age family just celebrated its 50th anniversary.
Hanna-Barbera Productions created “The Flintstones” on Sept. 30, 1960, but Fred, Barney and the rest of the Bedrock gang have gone far since then. “The Flintstones” series lead to 11 TV specials, five TV movies and 11 spin-off shows, including “The Pepples and Bamm-Bamm Show,” “Fred and Barney Meet the Shmoo” and “The Flintstone Kids.”
Still, fans may find the original recipe to be the best of the bunch. And why not? Just take a look at some of these classic clips:
The Great Gazoo
Fred’s jailhouse birthday
Wilma and Betty start an ugly rumor
A lullaby from Ann Margrock
Tell us your favorite "Flintstones" moments.

It's Pebbles, not Pepples!
I still think about all the phony Freds the Great Gazoo created and had wandering around Bedrock, anytime I have to complete some menial task. <Flat voiced> Yabba, Dabba, Do Yabba, Dabba Do.
That and "Learn that poem" from the Little Rascals
Fred and Barney made it to 50 even with them smoking in the Salem ad they did. Of course the cigarette smoke killed off the dinosaurs.
My favorite Flintstones was when Fred was "little" and got himself in all kinds of trouble. But I have to say the Flintstones was and still is my favorite cartoon!! Thanks Hanna & Barbara!!!
In a sad ironic twist, one of my favs is when Stony Curtis comes to town - RIP Tony Curtis...
Ironically, that was one of the first things I thought of when I read the news...Wilma running frantically around the house saying "Stony Curtis...Stony Curtis...STONY CURTIS!!"
Too many favorites to pick just one, though...twitch, twitch...
I loved the "cameras" with the birds inside engraving a piece of rock...never too old to watch the "Flintstones".
Never could figure out why they thought their cars were easier than walking...
To many good ones to pick a fav. But I probably laugh the hardest when Fred inherits his Uncle Giggles mansion and him and Barney spend the night, and get scared out of their wits. And like P.C. Moblee when I read about Tony all I could see was Stony.
Some favorites:
1. Samantha Stevens is the new neighbor in town and teaches Fred and Barney some lessons about camping.
2. They hardly ever show this one, but it is about Fred buying a dilapidated home for his mother-in-law, fixes it up, then finds out that she is staying with her other daughter - never meet her though.
3. Dino is put on a show and Fred sells him to an agent. He ends up missing him, but Dino returns.
The Flintstones seem to be a take on "The Honeymooners" in animation. The blowhard Fred (Ralph Cramden) and the easygoing buddy (Norton - alias Barney). Even though the show was animated, but had adult themes.
Where do they dredge up these idiot writers? Pepples???? What do you bet the person who wrote this article only identifies with the movie Flintstones!! (Rosie O'Donnell as Betty?? Give me a break!!)
Flintstones always reminds me of the other must-see cartoons of that era, Huckleberry Hound and Quickdraw McGraw
Just two words (from Fred)... TWITCH, TWITCH!!!
One of my favorites! Fred as a "Rock Star". That was too much fun...
"I sir, am a wiggly worm sir. A wiggly worm, sir, is the lowest lump of whale blubber in the ocean depth, and nothing is lower than a freshman at Prinstone U!"
My favorite is when Fred's had a long day at the quarry he comes home in a bad mood and Barney has just taken his last Cactus Cooler. He goes over to Barney's garage and procedes to berate him. Fred spies what he thinks is his bottle and drinks it. Barney asks him why he just drank his car polish. Fred starts acting like he's dying and asks Barney to help, do something! and Barney's reply is "I'll get a shammy" I know a little lost in the translation but is that kind of intelligent one line wise cracks I loved about the Flinststones. Dont forget the Rubstone Special!!!!!!!!!!!!! Trivia Question: What movie is playing at the drive in theatre in the opening of the show?
I LOVE The Flintstones!!! They ROCK!!!!!! How can you pick 1 favorite?? I have a few. though I would like to share..
1. The 'ALIEN Fred' episode..that is hysterical.."Yabba, dabba DOooooo".
2. The episode where Fred & Barney dress up as women...they bake the 'Upside down flint rubble bubble cake'.
3. The episode where Dino goes off to work with Sassy. He falls in love & then sees her without her makeup and (gasp) her wig!!
4. Cant leave out the "Twitch" episode.
5. And last but not least...the SLAVE BOY episode with Stony Curtis...God Bless Tony Curtis...he was FUNNY in that role as well!!
The Flintstones are the BEST!!!!!! Happy Birthday & 50 more!!!
Yabba dabba DOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
Who can for the anniversary episode - it is an absolute classic!
The real Fred Flintstone is a Don in the "construction business" and defended in court by Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law.

Happy Anniversar Hanna/Barbera!! I loved watching the Flintstones!!! We had the first color TV set in my neighborhood. It was a "hand me down" from my Dad's wealthy brother, Uncle Sam. It was wonderful. My parents let me have a handfull of my friends come over to watch that episode on the TV. It was a big deal to us Bronx boys!!! Thank you, thank you Hanna/Barera for all the wonderful children's award winning entertainment!!!
Best is the "Grusomes" who move in complete with Thundercloud, Dragon and Gobbie's pet tarantula.
Fred: Hi My name's Flinstone
Grusome: I'm Grusome
Fred: Yes, You are kinda grusome
LOL
Happy Birthday Freddy Boy!
The Flintstones, and the Jetsons! The best thing? No contrived diversity!
I still remember the song, "Yabba Dabba Doo"!
If you're up, and the bases are loaded
And they're counting on you
You just can't strike out if you up and shout
Yabba Dabba Dabba Dabba Doo!
Happy Birthday, Gang!
Yes, I loved the Grusomes!
"I am Weirdly Grusome! And this is my nauseatingly beautiful wife Creepella!"
But you just can't beat The Great Gazoo!
And I just loved that Bug Music!
I SAY YEAH, YEAH, YEAH!
HE SAY YEAH, YEAH, YEAH!
WE SAY YEAH, YEAH, YEAH!
YEEEAAAAAHHHHH!!!
Answer to Trivia question--the movie playing at the Drive-in is called "The Monster."
I do wonder a few things--there have been a couple of Flintstones Christmas specials. How did they manage to pull that off, since they lived in the Stone Age--several years BC--Before Christ???
I wonder if PETA will ever have the Flintstones banned for their promotion of using animals as appliances?
How did their television sets work?
