Is there any musical great who Jimmy Fallon can't get to do an amazing performance on his "Late Night" show? He's had Bruce Springsteen do little Willow Smith's viral hit "Whip My Hair," Justin Timberlake perform the history of rap and much, much more.
But Thursday night's musical performance may be one of the best, if not the absolute best. You see, Fallon not only landed Paul McCartney, he got the Beatle to sing. And not just any song, but "Yesterday," a tune that the Guinness World Records notes has the most cover versions. On top of that, McCartney didn't even perform the official lyrics, the musician offered up the original and hilarious lyrics!
A sample: "Scrambled eggs, oh my baby how I love your legs! Not as much as I love scrambled eggs, oh we should eat some scrambled eggs. Waffle fries, oh my darling how I love your thighs! Not as much as I love waffle fries, oh have you tried ... the waffle fries."
Check it out:
As someone who seriously loves both scrambled eggs and waffle fries (but not so much the tofu wings), I think this version is even better than the original! What do you think? Better? Worse? One of Fallon's best musical offerings?

Absolutely fantastic! I love that McCartney doesn't take himself so seriously. On this anniversary week of the death of his great partner, I truly thank God that Paul is still around to thrill and amaze us. He's simply the greatest singer-songwriter in the world. Thank you, Paul.
nirther doesw
Close but not quite. The "Pants on the Ground" rendition was Jimmy Fallon doing an impersonation of Neil Young. And he does a dead on great job.
Oh, right you are! He's had so many great musical guests I forgot that "Pants on the Ground" was an impersonation!
it was great..and they did it like they had always been doing it..glad to see it again today! thanks
This is one of those "repeat and it's true" stories. Those are not the original lyrics, but rather, Mccartney making a goof on everyone without them getting it. I'm pretty sure when that song was written, Tofu and Waffle fries were not around or rarely seen anywhere. Those lyrics were made up for the show and the backstory that he woke up and used those lyrics as a placeholder may be true, but those weren't the lyrics.
Thanks Viceroy, I was reading the lyrics and knew something didn't look right and I don't think so my Tofu wasn't around back then but almost guaranteed that Waffle fries didn't exist. It was all fish and chips back in the day.
Awesome!
I wish you a long, long life, Sir Paul. Thank you so much for all the gifts over the years. They helped me feel better when I felt bad.
People: It's a spoof. Paul did have the "scrambled eggs/love your legs bit" but the rest was updated for an American audience (hence the waffle fries, tofu wings, and onion rings). Who cares who wrote it? It was hilarious.
The Scrambled Eggs/ Yesterday story is decades old, with things called "books" that document it. McCartney has even mentioned it at his concerts.
The rest of the lines were probably written by Jimmy and/or Paul for the show.
He'll be on SNL this week, so let's see what funny stuff he comes up with for that.
I watched the show in question, was a great time.... I have become a fan of Jimmy Fallon.
Other then his Neil Young impersonation which was pretty impressive, I don't really find anything funny or talented about Jimmy Fallon. I don't understand his appeal. I'm not being mean...I just don't get it.
In a related note...only Paul McCartney could get away with doing an impersonation of a black woman on a bus on national tv in America.
Imitating an accent, whether it be English, Afro-American, Scottish, Canadian (eh), Mexican, Southern , etc., etc, doesn't necessarily mean the person doing the imitation hates or despises the person he is imitating. It went over well, and was a good story. Sitting next to Paul McCartney on a New York bus. More likely to win the New York Lotto than have that happen.
Apparently happened quite a bit with Lennon before his murder. Remember, the Beatles were people before, and after thet were Beatles. Sir Paul seems to have become a lot more little guy "human" in the last couple of years. All the Fab Four really seemed a lot more like "us" than the other bands at the time, except maybe for the Ashram bit. You have to forgive Harrison for withdrawing; as we later found out his health was bad. Ringo did kiddie TV. John and Yoko tried to live ordinary upper income NYC lives.
Jimmy Fallon and Craig ferguson blows away all the the rest fo the late night dinosaurs!
Blows awayyyyy, all the others seem so blown awayyyyy...

Paul is the Man, Thanks Jimmy for not asking Larry King type of questions.
Fallon didn't deserve the honor of sharing a mic with Sir Paul, but that was cool.
Too bad it wasn't the real (original) Paul McCartney, may he rest in peace. Some day the truth will come out...where are you Ringo?
I enjoyed the performance - it made my Beatlemania resurface!
Loved it!
The B-Side? John Lennon's "Your Gonna Lose That Toast"!
I thought it was hilarious. On a serious side Paul later sang his lovely "Here Today" in memory of John. Paul began to tear up a little but recovered.
