The controversy surrounding MTV’s no-holds-barred teen drama “Skins” isn’t likely to go away anytime soon. Just days after the U.S. version of the British teen series first aired, one parents' group has urged the federal government to investigate the show for possible violations of child pornography laws.
According to Parents Television Council president Tim Winter, the reason for that action is simple.
“You have a major conglomerate, Viacom and MTV, that is directly marketing to children graphic sex, profanity, drug use,” Winter said on Friday's TODAY show.
Legal analyst and victims’ rights advocate Wendy Murphy not only sees the PTC’s point, she anticipates Viacom’s defense.
"Their defense is likely to be 'oh, come on, this is just a television show,' but that’s not really a defense, because that's not the issue," Murphy explained. “The only issue is, are there kids involved who are under the age of 18? That's it! That's enough! That's child pornography.”
Unlike many made-for-TV teens, such as those somewhat unconvincing ones who populate "Glee’s" William McKinley High, the actors from “Skins” are actual teenagers, ranging from 15-19.
In a statement issued to TODAY, MTV responded to the controversy.
“'Skins’ is a show that addresses real-world issues confronting teens in a frank way,” the statement read. “We are confident that the episodes of 'Skins’ will not only comply with all applicable legal requirements, but also with our responsibilities to our viewers.”
What do you think? Does "Skins" go too far for TV?
A controversial new TV show on MTV is drawing criticism for showing teen actors half-naked and abusing drugs. NBC's Jeff Rossen reports.
Vote: Is 'Skins' too explicit for TV?

No. I watched the premier to see what all the talk was about. I found it uninteresting--I guess I'm too old--but I saw no child pornography. Perhaps the PTC needs to remind itself what "child pornography" is. Here's a hint: it doesn't involve a 17-year-old whose thighs are showing.
There are bath soap ads in France that make this show look like Sesame Street.
Better that kids learn about sex from MTV than the kind of uptight morons that complain about programs like this.
Who lets their kids watch this garbage, by garbage I mean...MTv. Seriously, my kids don't. The music is crap anyway, they would rather watch videos on YouTube and be exposed to artists who are 10x better than the corporate pop crap "artists" front as music these days.
Skins is unlawful, and programs corruption for our kids! There are teenagers that do this kind of stuff, and they think its cool and they have the mentality that they don't give a S#*t! For all those parents that don't give their kids the proper love and direction, it is partly your fault your kids do whatever they want! This program is NOT of good morals or taste! The director himself is twised, and a disgusting individual for ever thinking it is okay to put on the air!!! Damn all of those who think this is okay! Those who are self-serving and disregard their intensions, your day is coming! As all of US!!!!
Hey "it's all your fault"...I believe your kids don't watch MTV, until your back is turned. I'm sure your kids don't swear either, or ever picked their noses, and never drove faster than the speed limit, or called someone a name, or ever lied, or ever...how naive can one person be. I'm sure they listen to classical music, are always smiling, always lend a helping hand. How swell those kids are, ha ha ha
btw- I believe SKINS isn't a show that "...addresses real-world issues confronting teens in a frank way" Want to see that? watch something on National Geographic with real kids with real issues, not some fantasy glorified show.
I had to watch the first episode, and found it an interesting show, but something I wouldn't want to see week after week. If young teens are watching it, yes, it could influence them to think they MUST have sex and do drugs. The characters are not likeable....not one of them. One girl regularly tries to commits suicide....why? it wasn't shown.
The first episode showed parents who have no control and let the kids do whatever, and the kids fooling their parents into thinking they're studying or whatever, when they're not. If this is typical of American (white and privileged teens) then we are in a world of trouble here. No matter employers want the Mexicans as workers.
Is it porn? I was surprised at how "old" the teen actors looked. I thought they were 21-22, but learned they are teen actors.
It's very "suggestive" and that's what the Council is against. And I can see if the main audience is teens (13-16) that they would be pushed to "experiment". The parents end up looking like uncontrollable idiots. God help America.
Here's a freaking clue for MTV. There are lots of teens who AREN'T taking drugs and having sex. While I don't think a TV show is the deciding factor of what other teens will do, why don't you show anything as a counterpoint. My teen and her friends struggle with getting into college. Some of them, have to bring in enough money to help feed their families. Some of them are doing volunteer work besides their studies.
However, a legal point, the actors ARE under 17. There is some nudity and in the clip I saw some inappropriate touching. So, yes, MTV may have violated child pornography standards under US law. They could have used actors over 18 to do this show and then they would be in the legal clear. Whatever, you think of the content, the courts will have to determine if they have violated the laws. In the mean time, sponsors have the right to withdraw their ads. No one wants to be associated with a possible child pornography lawsuit.
Haven't seen the show yet, and by the comments, not sure I care about it. But sex between those who are judged to be underage has been going on since the beginning of time. Somewhere in all of our ancestors is someone who had sex at a young age. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but I'm saying if not for them doing that, you wouldn't be reading this right now.
Dr. Cat, and just because it has been going on since the beginning of time, doesn't mean that it's a good idea to put it on TV - acted out by teenagers. Again, MTV may have violated the law by using actors underage. What part of that don't you get?
differnet, if MTV violated the law, that's a different story. But remember when you were 13? (At the latest?) You already knew all this stuff by then, hopefully, anyway. It's not like a TV show is going to put "new ideas" in young teens heads.
Sure they do - I never implied my kids were perfect - but my kids don't like pop music, they don't like "reality TV", they don't listen to commercial radio, they are pretty smart - and have already developed their own tastes in music. They find it on Pandoa, YouTube, LastFM, and sites like that - they don't need MTv's crap - and they have come to this conclusion on their own. Sure they misbehave (they are kids), are unruly at time (I have two boys), they lie when they can get away with it, they fight when they want too, and are all around hellions - but...that doesn't mean I haven't raised them to have good taste.
Skins is NOT a new show. It was a BBC show that MTV re-did. I didn't hear anybody complaining about it when it was airing on BBC America.
Mrs. C... you nailed taht one on the head! the british version is better anyways.... and child pornography? clearly its mtv so they can't show "sex" and if they are minors they have to get parental consent to be on a show like this anyways, so where's the exploitation, where's the child pornography? but you know what? all teh people complaining, you are just giving the show free advertising and more viewers will now tune in, congrats, you got exactly the opposite of what you wanted, kudos
In this climate seeing a girl 1 day shy of her 18th birthday flash her boobs at Mardi Gras would end up as national news. Christ people, haven't we MORE important things to worry about than the inconvenient facts that teens have sex? And HAVE been having it? And will continue to have it? More frequently than most adults?
Wendy Murphy... grow up.
Exactly! BBC America has carried SKINS and no one complained.
I think you mean no one watched. BBC America? Really? That's like up in the 4-digits, past the Monster Truck Channel.
Under the US Child Pornography law, if you have a model or actor who is a minor posing or performing in a way that directly depicts them as having sex, masturbating or directly shows them in a sexual manner then this is child pornography. It was written this way because it protects parents who shoot pictures of their child running naked on the beach by saying that as long as you are not depicting them in a sexual manner you are safe. In this show, they show them laying naked in bed after or during sex. That is depicting them in a sexual manner. TV normally gets around this by having over 18 actors playing teens. In this case they have 15 year olds playing the teens. So they have in fact violated the law. As for the UK version...... it was not as trashy as this one. It was more substance than flesh. This is nothing more than a Jersey Shore version of the UK Skins.
Reaper, where is this Monster Truck Channel you talk about? :-) If I could get a monster truck channel on my TV, it would be stuck to that channel thanks to my son. He is obsessed with them.
Ivan, in that case you better arrest half the teenage girls on facebook who take pictures of their friends wearing bikinis at a pool party or something.
Whether it is child porn or not it doesn't belong on commercial TV. Even the comment about getting around this by having people over 18 playing teenagers you are advertising to kids that this is okay.
Yes I did it as a teen and yes teens do it and yes teens will continue to do it but do we really have to advertise it? MTV should be taken off the air. They aren't trying to help anything or anybody. They are doing what they can to get ratings and controversy creates curiosity which creates ratings which creates more revenue with each commercial spot. This is about greed only and the fact that MTV still hasn't been able to realize they can't put together quality programming if their life depended on it.
What exactly does the FCC do these days? They can't chase Howard Stern anymore because he is no longer on terrestrial radio so all the people that were working that vendetta are free to work on things like Family Guy and Two and a Half Men being on at 5 or 6 in the afternoon on over the air television, not cable. I love both of these shows but I don't want my 10 and 13 year old step kids watching.
The rules have gone and folks it is just going to get worse. Money will get you anything you need and it has obviously bought off the FCC because I haven't heard a peep. Yet there was all this screaming and yelling when, for a split second, Janet Jackson's boob gets flashed during the Super Bowl half time show. They were going to levy fines against the network and blah blah blah. I guess that was all done for show because what is allowed on TV just a handful of years later disgusts me and I am the furthest thing from a prude. The thing is, I understand how to act around kids and I still understand the difference between right and wrong. Being the rank sarcastic person I can be around adults is not even close to appropriate around kids.
How do you solve this issue? Throw out your TV. There is no other solution. Cancel cable? So much is on over the air stations this will just get rid of most of it. Program your V-Chip? A lot of people can't set the time on their microwave let alone figure out the V-Chip. If they aren't watching it at your house they probably are at their friends. I give up.
I am kicking away my soapbox before I get on a roll about what you hear on radio these days. Drive the car with the kids and might as well keep the radio off for fear of some stupid promo about the morning show and the garbage the spews out of their mouths. Isn't this what satellite radio is for?
you sincerely, and pardon my french, have your head up your butt. the fact that parents don't talk to teens, and just pretend this kind of stuff doesn't happen is what leads to STD's, teen pregnancy, etc. Get a grip, if you don't like it, don't watch. to attack it as child porn is ABSURD, and a complete crap on the law and the people it was created to protect. This is clearly trying to twist a law on it's head to enforce their perverse sense of morality.
John 3710- by your logic, when someone complains about something wrong, they are advertising it? Guess I should stop complaining about child and spousal abuse, since I'm just advertising it. You're a moron. oops, just advertised morons, darn
What's the big deal? This was all shown before in the British version of Skins that aired on BBC America. From the first episode it appears that the only real change was from a gay guy to a lesbian, the rest seems taken almost word for word from the British version.
The main difference? The Brits had cute kids playing the roles.
MTV is a cable channel and as such can be controlled with a simple little device called a V-chip or how about the parental control button on the cable box. Maybe if parents watched the show with their teenager, a discussion could be started about the program. I don't know, but isn't that called parent responsibility? I know my daughter checks out what my grandson (age 14) is permitted to watch. He may not like it, but he follows the rules. If the show is new he asks permission to watch. If he wants a certain video game he asks permission and if the answer is no then he doesn't ask again.
Marie,
Tell your daughter to start giving parenting classes. She might become a millionaire by the time this year is over!
Marie & allylloyd, Amen!!
Marie, how dear you make sense! Where did you get this radical thinking that parents should start to well...parent their children. I am so ashamed of you. Go to the corner missy and let us folks do the parenting for you and the rest of the county. It's obvious that you have no idea what is good for you and your children as do the rest of the country. We must take this to the courts to protect our children from this filth. Don't you talk back missy and tell me to turn off the TV. I am outrage and we will get a law pass to fix this. The government is too big and not doing enough to make our children safe. We want smaller government and a government to help us protect our children. So stay in the corner, so my group and I will make sure we get the right laws passed for you, your children and all of our wonderful children in the United States of America. Good Bless American and our smaller government for raising our children with morality, because God knows we as parents cannot do it without the government's help.
/sarc
Lol...right on....I am not sure if it violates any laws but I doubt our teens have to watch it to get any ideas they dont already have..hey...Jahmekan, if can you get them to pass a law banning anything on MTV ban Jersey Shore..oh wait...I guess the PTC would rather have our teens watch that trash...learn to dress like a tramp,,,get all jagged up in public, get punched in the face.... get arrested..then write a book about exactly how much of a tool you really are or ..you could just become rich because you have nice abs and gave yourself a nickname....just don't do it when your a teen..wait til your an adult to be a moron...and for the last time..these clowns are New Yorkers not from Jersey..this is the second time New Yorks garbage has washed up on our shore...thanks MTV !
Marie-2445423: Your daughter is obviously deluded. If she thinks the American general public is going to take responsibility for their own children, she is in fantasyland. If any of you think the American general public is going to set rules and then enforce those rules evenly across all the children in the household, you're nuts. If you think the American general public is going to settle down and peruse an offering BEFORE making an INFORMED decision, you've lost your marbles.
That would make us responsible, cogent, lucid, even-tempered people and we can't have that kind of rational thinking in this country.
(for those of you wondering... that was sarcasm)
BTW The PTC is a fraud. Anyway, Lokio124: so you are suggesting having the govt. regulate what is broadcast on our airwaves, so that your child is not roughed up on the playground? How is that even remotely logical? I have two boys and one has been hit by a bully, because he was trying to stop said bully from bullying a smaller boy. I never discuss coming to the aide of anyone to him, but he saw an injustice and attempted to right it, even with his limited capacity. I explain that, he should have gotten a grown up (happened right after school let out), so that they could stop it. See that is what is called a teachable moment and a life experience for him. While you should do everything to protect your child, they still have to function in society and they will come across situations that will test them and they will have to know how to react to that test. We cannot sanitize every fabric of our society and expect to have our children be well adjusted to live in a society that is less than perfect.
Why is it the moment people become parents they forget how little their own parents knew about what they were up to as a teen and are delussioned into thinking they know everything that their kid is up to and believe that their kid tells them everything about their life?
It's actually even easier than using the V-Chip or even turning the channel. Since it's on subscription-based TV (meaning not "over-air) if you don't like the programing than DON'T PAY FOR IT! If I don't want that stuff in my home (or around my kids) than I don't subscribe to it. I haven't seen the show, but I can't imagine it is worse than any of the reality crap already out there (16 & pregnant, Jersey Shore, etc..) and this is show is fiction!
The question is why do they need minors to be pretending to have sex? Just use actors that are of age and the whole problem goes away.
You are right especially since real minors don't pretend to have sex----they do it regularly as evidenced by the number of teen pregnancies.
Perhaps the teens pretending to have sex on the show couls use ondems and real teens (who are very imitative) might start using them too.
This may result in the decrease of teenage pregnancies, STD's, etc.
But this being the US we will hide our heads in the sand in the hopes that if we don't talk about it ---it won't happen. After all teaching safe sex might be construed as giving permission.
Yeah, but you all know just like there are ppl out there like MADD can't stay out of our drinking, there are ones that think they know what is best for our kids as well.
Lets make our own decisions please.
BillM I agree with you about making our own decisions about tv shows and movies but I don't agree that MADD is stopping you or anyone from drinking. They are just stopping you or someone else from driving drunk. If people get that loaded, take a cab or have a sober friend drive you home. (here I'm using the general you, not the you-you, oh you know what I mean)
what we need is for our cable providers to set up a program where we can go online and block channels, easily, whose contents we don't support. Money will eventually talk and programming will come in line with what the majority of people deem appropriate without regulation. Everyone has the right to freedom of speech but we also have the right not to support financially, views, opinions and influences on society and our children that we don't agree with
What we really need is customized cable where you can pick and choose the channels you want over and above the networks.
um they already have both of those things...it's called GoogleTV, or do what the rest of us do and download all the shows you like to watch (and in doing so, stick it to those terrible cable service providers like TimeWarner...suck it TWC).
This is ridiculous. OH NOES, it's marketed at teens! Well, duh.
God forbid someone try to make a realistic show about tough issues. I wish these ultra-conservatives would just live their own lives and stop worrying about what the rest of the world is doing. Man, some people have such hang-ups.
HI,
You call them "hang ups" I call them control issues. The reality is welcome to the nanny state where it is assumed that people are incapable of making their own decisions.
Actually, people have every right to protest or ask the government to review something, and they should.
In addition, these people have ZERO control over you, it is the government that does, so what are you worried about from the PTC?
If the advertisers leave, then so will the show.
The question is, who is watching this junk? I have added MTV to my blocked list, to protect my child from their crap. They can make it, fine. If you are letting your kids watch it, you are screwed up. If YOU watch it and are an adult, you are even more screwed up.
They have this thing called a remote control, which allows all you prudes to change the friggin channel. Also, most new satellite and cable "boxes" have the abilty to set parental controls for specific shows. Depicting a character or actor that is underage having sex and having real world problems is not "pornography" unless you actually show something. Teenagers have sex, and I'm not far removed from being one, so I got a little insight on this. The only people I see complaining can't deal with the reality that their son or daughter might be doing something depicted on this show. We've been parading jailbait around for years on TV as sex symbols or "teen idols" but media always did it with the "good girl" image. Since junior high I can name Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, Lyndsey Lohan, Christina Augullera, Jessica Simpson, Hillary Duff. Now a bunch of hypocrites get up in arms over this because it might actually show the ugly truth about how some teenagers really behave.
We have indeed been parading jailbait around as sex symbols, far too much. That is a societal problem though. I say let these people be outraged, unfortunately they have probably turned more people onto this garbage than anything else.
Conservative America Blows a big one.
Teach a couple of days in an American high school (I did for 9 years) and you will understand why this show basically just sucks...
It will already compound the growing issue of entitlement, promiscuity, and general crappy attitude of this generation. We all misbehaved and broke rules as teenagers, but we didn't have a camera follow us. It was a "right of passage" (drinking, weed, sex, etc...) that most (no not all) teenagers experience. But, the camera, to a degree, condones the behavior... Not good.
Snooki drunk on the beach in the middle of the day and arrested?? Is it a shocking, big deal? Nope. Is it shocking she was dumb enough to do it on National TV?? Yep. It speaks volumes of how she perceives her self and her worth. When and if she grows up, she will regret every minute of that show and probably be angry with those who supported her to participate...
Skins? Really?
There's a 17 year old running naked....but the scene was deleted or edited because of this child pornography issue.....but the pictures were still taken, video was still shot, and the 17 year old was still naked in front of a bunch of adults (and children from 15 on up).....shouldn't there still be some sort of issue with this???
I seriously doubt the actor was completely nude. Have you ever heard of a jock sock? They have special underwear that protects an actor's modesty that barely covers anything. I'm pretty sure thats taking the definition of pornography too far. Its not intended to tittilate or excite, only to depict something that somebody did when you were in school. As for streaking, do you not remember anyone doing something that stupid when you were in high school?
Link pls.
Teenage nudity in film is not uncommon ... You might want to look at movies such as: American Beauty, Blue Lagoon, Emerald Forest, The Last Picture Show, and Romeo & Juliet (1968 version) to name a few.
Personally I do not have an issue with this. If the teens are fine with it and parents are fine with it, then let them do as they please. Although, if they are going to call it child pornography ON screen then I believe they should call it the same exact thing offscreen. As for that link, I'll check for it....
http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/01/is-skins-child-porn-mtv-is-confident-in-their-fight-versus-the-ptc.html
Not the original article I read, but here's your link. In the one I read, it didn't say if the 17 year old had a "sock" on his stuff, but there was still plenty of naked flesh to be seen. If you read this article (the one that linked) though, even MTV thinks it may be child pornography. Like I said, I really don't care about some 17 year old's ass, but if a 17 year old dating a 16 year old girl can go to jail when he turns 18 and she's still underage, then this should be pornography.
http://bossip.com/333546/mtv-executes-are-afraid-their-new-show-skins-could-be-considered-child-porn-43081/
here you go G_reader found the original article I read
I have never watched "Jersey Shore," and I don't intend to watch THIS one, either - nor will my 14-year-old.
Another smart, well written show aimed at teens that promotes an open dialoge on many social issues teens face. This is a great tool to be used as an open forum to discuss with your teens....take advantage of it or turn it off. But don't shove your oppressive , abstinance only crap, anti feminist everything is porn BS opinion if you don't agree.
Let's keep things in perspective here folks............
Teens may have sex. Teens may do drugs. Teens may drink . As educators for our youth we need to try every form of communication we have to get ideas across to them. Television can reachmillions....use it.
Bottom line....if it offends your sense of morals then don't watch.
Stop being stupid. Child porn or even the hint of child porn is not protected by the Freedom of Speech. The Government has the right to protect not only the viewers, who may be children, but also the actors/actresses portraying the role. Just because it is on cable t.v. does not protect it from prosecution. They still have a responsibility to the public and the actors/actresses......
Where is the child porn LAWENCE?
I watched the episode and saw no porn let alone child porn. Don't get hysterical. Use your reason and logic over emotion.
It is not only the children/teens watching the show but also the actors/actresses playing in that role that should raise an eyebrow with the Feds. By the way, just because it was a British show does not make it better.
So you are contending that what we watched was child porn?
You are being absurd.....bordering on the stupid.
There was NO child porn on that show. You may not like the hypersexuality of the show...but it didn't constitute child porn. If you don't like then don't watch it.
Yeah so this show is over the top but the idiots on Jersey Shore are appropriate? How bout we scrap all this s@#% on tv anyway....it's junk!
I second that. These pathetic shows teach such horrible morals that they are just another shovel contributing to our society's pit of selfishness, a higher value in success over integrity, and a lack of respect for others.
Parental responsibility? What a concept!!!
Congrats to your daughter, Marie!
But it would protect your kids.
I AM COMPLETELY OFFENDED AND OUTRAGED!!!!!!! How dare MTV do something like this! It's crass! It's rude!!! It's inappropriate for our kids, teaching them warped ideals!!! HOW DARE MTV keep the "M" in their name!!! They haven't played Music in 20 some odd years! I'm suing to protect our children, less they think Jersey Shore and Skins are music....
Okay...I understand that you're offended and outraged. The solution is simple - don't watch. The FCC has rules for what's appropriate. If they meet the rules, they have a right to run the show. Just because this show hurts your sensibilities doesn't give you the right to censor it on behalf of everyone else. People need to take some personal responsibility and stop trying to push their morals and beliefs onto others.
Literacy. It's a good thing. Next time read my ENTIRE comment before you respond. I was making fun of those who get morally outraged over this sort of thing. In fact, my moral outrage was over MTV still having the "M" (for "Music") in their title when they haven't played music in 20+ years. Again, READ before you decide to lambast someone.
Sean: Sarcasm doesn't come over well in print because we can't hear your voice inflections or see the facial expression and also because of the context ie: other commenters might offer similar opinions but be completely serious about what they say.
Another reason why sarcasm may not read well is because of functional illiteracy.
How dare MTV show us something that's slipping right past us, happening right in front of our faces and something that's true and yet completely ignored because everyone wants to assume their child is an angel?
I watched the episode of Skins, and while I find it interesting to cover major issues that REALLY ARE HAPPENING, yet everyone wants to ignore, I find no issue or pornography. I believe the real battle is that issues like these don't want to be talked about, don't want to be shown and people don't "want" to know about them. If we know about them, then we have to admit that there's a problem in today's generations. Kids are getting into all sorts of things, sex, drugs, alcohol, partying, fighting, etc. and an older generation, as much as I hate to say it, has NO IDEA how to deal with it or what to do to start helping. Bringing it forward, in a TV show such as Skins is a way to say, THIS IS HAPPENING AND YOU ARE MISSING IT. Further more, ask yourself, what's the difference between Skins and Jersey Shore, where a group of young adults party, continuously show violence, get arrested and pick up randoms for a "good DTF"? or Skins and Bridalplasty, while granite it's not promoting sex and drugs but literally making people compete for plastic surgery because they aren't happy with themselves? or Skins and Real World, where we still consistently partying, getting arrested and hooking up? or Skins and Big Brother? The list could really go on and on. But we can't attack something we just don't like, because its risky. We are the parents letting our teens wear lingerie as Halloween Costumes, and we are the parents who shop with our kids for skimpy skirts, low cut shirts, and high heels. We've kind of created our own problem. I don't know we can just blame Skins.
can't just blame skins
Where's the guitar solo?
and all the bad lipsyncing......
The kids are totally trashed anyway. It doesn't make any difference if they watch the most depraved smut from morning 'til night. Most are autistic little Borg units who will soon become mass murderers. Who cares what they watch on TV?
Oh, that's nice, kc. :/
Where are you getting this from? I'd say it safe to say that you don't have any kids of your own(hopefully)
I am not surprised that most of you progressivethink that this is OK. Why I am sure you would have no problem with second graders having sex in a classroom. It is the progressive way to destroy morality.
Have fun reading about this, I am sure you will find reasons why it's perfectly fine for second graders to have sex in class.
http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2011/01/21/oakland-2nd-graders-reportedly-engage-in-sex-acts-teacher-suspended/
Are your 15 year olds still in the second grade? Because if they are, I' not certain that hickies are their biggest problem.
Things like this show, Jersey show and second graders having sex in a classroom is exactly the reason that TV and cable should allow us to buy exactly the channels we want to have, and not package them together exposing some of us to the crap that others may want to watch.
We can have it all, but only if we can have the option to buy our cable and channels, on a per channel basis.
SHOW BLOCKING should be an option, just like spam trash/blocking on a computer.
I watched the episode of Skins, and while I find it interesting to cover major issues that REALLY ARE HAPPENING, yet everyone wants to ignore, I find no issue or pornography. We've kind of created our own problem. I don't know we can just blame Skins.
Given the language, alcohol, drugs and sex, I assumed this was a reality show filmed at Wasilla High.
LOL!
