'Glee' returns to big-name guest stars with Kate Hudson, SJP

    Jonathan Ernst / REUTERS

Kate Hudson is just one of the big name stars expected to make guest appearances on "Glee."

    By Courtney Hazlett

After having a season mostly free of big-name (or gimmicky) guest stars on "Glee," Fox entertainment's Kevin Reilly announced two big additions for the show's upcoming season. Sarah Jessica Parker and Kate Hudson will each have a multi-episode arc on the show, as Deadline reported, but no further details about their characters were revealed.

Since many of the "Glee" regulars are graduating from high school this spring, fans of the show have wondered how their departures will be treated. To that end, Reilly said that the fall season will feature "a show within a show," following the characters to their performing arts school in New York, and that some "new faces" will be in Ohio.

What say you, "Glee" fans (and non-fans)? When high school is a central element to a show's plot, is it possible to really love the characters as they move on to their logical next steps? I don't remember it working out so well for those "Dawson's Creek" kids, but that show didn't dip into the guest star well to keep things fresh, either.

'Glee' source: Lindsay Lohan was a 'nightmare' on set

By Kristin Dos Santos, Melanie Bromley and Katie Rhames, E! Online

    Imeh Akpanudosen / Getty Images

"Glee" sources say Lindsay was great filming a scene last week, but that things didn't go as smoothly on Wednesday.

Lindsay Lohan's second day on the "Glee" set probably won't go down as her finest hour.

Sources on set have given us exclusive details of Lindsay's guest appearance yesterday, including that the troubled actress was indeed "incredibly late," and production had to send a car to the Chateau Marmont hotel in Hollywood to pick her up and bring her to set.

So what does Lindsay's rep have to say? And what nickname are the "Glee" cast and crew now calling her?

More from E: 'Glee' scoop: Lindsay, tears and more in the weeks ahead!

"Lindsay was a total nightmare yesterday," says one (clearly less than thrilled) source on the "Glee" set. "She was three hours late in the morning, and when she did finally arrive, she just didn't want to be there. She did not want to work. She had not memorized her lines, and she kept disappearing so no one could find her."

A highly placed "Glee" source tell us that Lindsay's lengthy scene last week went "really great, she was so professional and it looked like everything was going to go so well."

Yesterday, however, although she didn't have many lines, L.L.'s tardiness did irk some members of the cast and crew, who showed up at least three hours prior. We are told that some staffers on set were so less than thrilled by Lindsay's antics, they have given her the nickname "That Girl," adding, "She has rubbed them all up the wrong way by being so disrespectful of everyone else's schedule."

Dot Marie Jones, who plays Coach Bieste, tweeted out (and later deleted): "Gonna be a long day!! Some ppl show up late and just throw a wrench in things. Not cool! I'd rather be an hour early (I was) than 5 minutes late."

More from E: Jennifer Morrison back for 'House' series finale!

Lindsay (along with guest celebrity judges Rex Lee and Perez Hilton) was shooting the big "Nationals" competition, for the "Glee" episode that will air May 15 on Fox. They were doing reaction shots of Lindsay and the other audience members yesterday. She is playing herself.

Lindsay's spokesman Steve Honig insists she was late yesterday because of a "misunderstanding" about her call time, and tells us: "The production team came to us and said that they wanted to start [with Lindsay] right after lunch, which was at 2. They wanted to begin with Lindsay at 3, so that meant she had a lot of time where she wasn't doing anything. That's why people didn't see her. She was then in hair and makeup and began after lunch at 3."

He adds: "If there was a problem yesterday, I would have just said 'no comment,' however I can't ignore this because this is utter B.S. This is a classic example of people trying to bash Lindsay. She busted her a-- yesterday and is back on set again today."

A well-placed "Glee" source tells us that despite the tardiness issues yesterday, "Everyone on 'Glee' is still rooting for Lindsay. We had made a few jokes at her expense earlier in the show, and we really do want her to be able to succeed."

'American Horror Story' gets new season setting ... and 'Glee' characters?

    Prashant Gupta / FX

"American Horror Story" will return with a new locale next season, and almost certainly without Rubber Man.

    By Jenna Mullins, E! Online

A mental hospital? A college? A prison? The theories for "American Horror Story's" season two setting have been flying around even before season one wrapped. And finally, after months of waiting, Ryan Murphy revealed at a special "AHS" panel session (hosted by our Kristin Dos Santos at the TV Academy last night) where next season of his horror hit will take place.

Were any of your guesses correct?

MORE: "Glee" scoop: Lindsay Lohan's "Meaty" guest appearance is almost here!

If you guessed amusement park ... you were way off.

But, if you guessed institution for the criminally insane ... you were right on the money! Murphy confirmed the rumors that season two of "AHS" will be set in a mental hospital, and Jessica Lange is in charge! "(Season two) is set on the East Coast at an institution for the criminally insane that is run by Jessica," Murphy said. "It's a completely different world and has nothing to do with season one, there's not a mention of season one. The second season is set in a completely different time period."

When it was asked if Zachary Quinto, who will be Lange's nemesis, might be an inmate, Murphy smiled that knowing smile and simply replied: "Maybe." Quinto himself said he was "really looking forward" to playing a new role on the same show. "The notion of coming back and playing something totally different and in a totally different world with many of the same actors ... it's probably one of the more exciting things that has come across my plate in recent years," he said.

MORE: Spoiler chat daily: "Vampire Diaries" and "Once Upon a Time" finale scoop! Plus, "Community" and more!

"The Voice" star Adam Levine recently confirmed his role on the show, and Murphy revealed that the musician immediately jumped on board after hearing what was in store for his character. "He's a sexy guy, so he needs to play a sexy guy, but a guy that is different than who you think he would play," Murphy spilled. "I pitched him the part and he listened slack-jawed and simply said, 'I'm in.' The second season is fun, sexy and baroque. It has a lot of meat to it. It's a really gritty part."

Other returning folks from "AHS'" first run include Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Lily Rabe. But they might not be the only ones!

"The idea is to work with actors that you love and are excited by. The second season there will be other people up on this stage, who are not announced, who will also be in it but are playing the polar opposite of what they were in the first season in every way."

Just so you know, other people up on stage with him were Connie Britton, Dylan McDermott, Denis O'Hare and Alexandra Breckenridge.

    Other nuggets of info:

    • Season two will be completely self-contained with no crossover from season one. Because the season one story was self-contained, with a beginning, middle and end, AHS will be submitted as a miniseries for the Emmys this year.
    • There were six "Rubber Man" suits and Dylan McDermott insists Evan Peters kept one and wears it. He's kidding. We think. Also the much speculated-about photo of a heftier "Rubber Man" was a stunt double.
    • Executive producer Brad Falchuk revealed the writers did consider going the route of a certain fan theory (popular in our office!), that Dylan's character Ben was Constance's long lost fourth child.
    • Murphy confirmed that "Glee's" Finn, Rachel and Kurt are all moving to a haunted dorm at NYADA (New York Academy of Dramatic Arts) and that will be season two of "AHS." Make. It. So.
    • Fans who want to see Adam Levine supersexy and scantily clad will "be satisfied," teases Murphy, adding that the second season of AHS will be even more sexualized than season one. Levine will appear in "much more" than one episode, as one half of a duo called "the lovers."

Latest photo hacking appears to target 'Glee' star Heather Morris

    Mike Yarish / FOX

Heather Morris' "Glee" character Brittany dreams of being Britney Spears.

By Alexis L. Loinaz, E! Online

Heather Morris probably isn't feeling too gleeful today.

The "Glee" star is apparently the latest celeb to fall victim to hackers after a series of racy photos purportedly of the actress (or someone bearing a remarkable resemblance) leaked online yesterday.

The scandal comes on the heels of photo leaks last week involving Christina Hendricks and Olivia Munn, who both indicated that not all of those pics were legit.

    But what about Morris' photos?

MORE: Christina Hendricks and Olivia Munn Latest Victims of Alleged Phone Hacks and Photo Leaks

The images include a series of salacious cell phone self-portraits, in a variety of poses. Some photos feature her parading around in two-piece athletic gear. Others show her modeling a variety of outfits, including a skimpy "I'm a Slave 4 U" bikini similar to what Morris wore in "Glee's" famous Britney Spears episode.

Still others feature the woman completely clothes-less, striking a series of seductive poses.

E! News has reached out to Morris' reps, as well as the site CelebSlam, which first published the images. So far, no one is talking.

Morris is no stranger to au naturel photos. In 2010, revealing snaps from a pre-"Glee" professional modeling shoot found their way online. The star, however, took the release in stride.

"I kind of thought it might happen," she told "Extra" about that leak. "I understand completely where it came from. For me, I think they are beautiful. It's not something I'm ashamed of. Everybody should do tasteful beautiful nudes, so when you get older you're gonna be like, 'Oh, that's when my body looked so great!' "

At least she still has that going for her. Now about her cell phone account.

Watch 'Glee's' unplanned tribute to Whitney Houston

    By Ree Hines

On Tuesday night, "Glee" featured a moving tribute to singer Whitney Houston that was never meant to be a tribute at all. Still, what was simply planned as a Valentine's Day performance of "I Will Always Love You" turned out to be an effective, accidental memorial.

Amber Riley, who plays Mercedes on the song and dance show, belted out a remarkably faithful version of the song that turned out to be Houston's biggest and most memorable hit.

    'Glee' makes surprising casting move

    Getty Images

Jeff Goldblum and Brian Stokes Mitchell are set to play Rachel's two dads on "Glee."

    By Randee Dawn

The identity of Rachel Berry's biological mom on "Glee" has been the subject of an ongoing storyline, but until now Berry's adoptive gay dads Hiram and LeRoy Berry have been glimpsed just fleetingly.

But as TVLine now reports, those gay dads have finally been cast in full speaking parts, and will now be played by Jeff Goldblum and Broadway veteran Brian Stokes Mitchell.

It's an interesting change of "Glee" canon; the photo of Rachel with her dads made it pretty clear that they were played by a different set of actors.

Perhaps more important, they've both got musical backgrounds. Mitchell has a number of stage productions under his belt, including "Kiss Me Kate," which earned him a 2000 Tony Award. He's also done television, playing roles on "Frasier" and "Ugly Betty." Meanwhile, Goldblum is better known for his acting -- most recently he had a regular role on "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" -- but according to TVLine he's an "accomplished jazz pianist" (he even tickled the ivories a bit on "Criminal Intent") and debuted on Broadway in 1971.

Goldblum and Mitchell will appear on the series' Valentine's Day episode, Feb. 14 on Fox. And yes, says TVLine, they're gonna sing.

Will you tune in to catch either actor on "Glee"? Tell us on our Facebook page.

Catch the first look at NeNe Leakes on 'Glee'

    Adam Rose/FOX

Reality TV star NeNe Leakes stars as Coach Roz on "Glee."

    By Ree Hines

The next episode of "Glee" promises more of the usual high school drama and song and dance fun that fans have come to expect, but it also features a "Glee" first: NeNe Leakes.

As announced last week, "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" reality star will join the show as a recurring guest star. Now FOX has released the first photo showing Leakes in character. In the shot, Leakes, as swim coach Roz, faces off with Chord Overstreet's Sam.

Fans won't learn what the poolside hubbub is about until the episode airs Jan. 17.

Until then, Gleeks can enjoy this Leakes-free promo for the episode.

Those looking for other Leakes fixes in the new year will have plenty of opportunities to catch the frequent feuder on the small screen. In addition to her "Housewives" duties, she recently revealed that she'll also appear on BET's "The Game" and "Let's Stay Together."

'Housewives' star NeNe Leakes gets recurring role on 'Glee'

    Wilford Harewood / Bravo

"Real Housewives of Atlanta" star NeNe Leakes is taking a brief break from reality TV for a recurring role in "Glee."

    By Ree Hines

Move over, Sue Sylvester! There's a new coach coming to McKinley High, and she knows how to stir up drama, too.

On Monday night's "Watch What Happens Live," "Glee" regulars Lea Michele and Chris Colfer announced that NeNe Leakes, of "Real Housewives of Atlanta" and frequent feuding fame, will soon join the show as a recurring guest star.

"She's awesome," Michele told host Andy Cohen. "She plays the new swim coach, Roz."

And if the tweets Leakes posted after the announcement are any indication, Roz is ready for action.

"Running through the house screaming Gleeeeee!" she wrote in one of the messages. "Coach Roz Washington is gonna get that Sue Sylvester! I'm so proud of myself."

Lynch admits old crush on 'non-threatening' Ron Howard

    By Randee Dawn

Between her headline-making appearance hosting the Emmy Awards on Sunday and her regular role on Fox's "Glee" and the publication of her new memoir "Happy Accidents," Jane Lynch is just busting out all over.

"Everything, it's so funny, it just seems to happen in like one week -- and it has been that kind of week for me, and I almost can't take stock of it," she told TODAY's Lester Holt.

Jane Lynch, America's favorite villain on the hit show "Glee," takes TODAY on a tour of the set and talks about hosting the 63rd Emmy Awards.

Lynch admitted she hadn't even read any reviews of her appearance as Emmy host.

"I basically jumped on a plane to get here," she said, referring to the TODAY show set -- but said preparing for the slot was not easy.

"You can't think about it, you really just have to take it a chunk at a time. I have the gall to have to compare it to playing 'Hamlet,'" she said. "If you take it a soliloquy at a time, a speech at a time, you take the chunks, which is exactly what I did with the Emmys. And those thoughts of what if I trip, what if the prompter goes down, what if, what if, what if -- those would wake me up in the middle of the night, and I would scream aloud, but mostly for the waking hours I was able to take it one chunk at a time."

Still, it was Lynch's deeper past that proved most interesting, a subject she explored in her book "Happy Accidents."

Growing up, Lynch said "I didn't feel comfortable in my person. I was so sure there was some other place I was supposed to be, some other family I was supposed to be (in) -- 'The Brady Bunch' -- some other body I belonged in, and unfortunately I was stuck with the one I was in, and it gave me a lot of heartache and a lot of wishing I was someone else.

She also had a hard time acknowledging her sexual orientation publicly, and redirected her passions early on to, for example, "Happy Days"-era Ron Howard.

"Post-puberty Ronny Howard," she clarified to Holt. "Ronny Howard, like Davy Jones, like Donny Osmond ... they're non-threatening sexual man. They're kind of boyish, they don't have any hair on their bodies ... they're these non-threatening boy-man figures, Ken doll figures."

Lynch came out to her family in a letter when she was 32, after a woman in she met in an AA meeting suggested she pour out her heart in writing, but not necessarily send the note. When she finished, it choked her up to read the words aloud, and she she sent the letter to her loved ones. "It was great," she said.

Lynch married Dr. Laura Embry in 2010.

Today, though, Lynch said she's in a much better place, particularly playing Sue Sylvester on "Glee." "She says all those things in the back of our head we'd never entertain saying. ... I had this thing where I would take everybody else's inventory. I was telling everyone how they should live their life. I didn't hold back. ... I didn't get a lot of love for that, and what I wanted was a lot of love."

Presumably, these days she has even more than she can handle.

'Glee' kids get 'Fashion'-able with new music video

    Norman Jean Roy / VOGUE

    By Randee Dawn

While "Glee: The 3D Concert Movie" may have taken some knocks at the box office over the weekend, the stars of "Glee" can take comfort in this: Not only are they some of the hottest, most fashion-forward TV stars out there, but they are the spokespersons for 2011's Fashion's Night Out.

The yearly event, which celebrates and encourages consumers to go late-night shopping and enjoy fashion of all stripes (and solids and prints), begins on Sept. 8 this year.

The "Glee" kids are taking their spokesperson role with a little glee of their own, since it landed the cast a big spread in Vogue, the creator and co-sponsor of FNO. The new issue is out Aug. 23, the same day Vogue.com will debut a music video cover of David Bowie's "Fashion" sung by Lea Michele. And the cast has made a PSA TV spot to promote FNO, which will start airing on Aug. 24.

Yet for all the hoopla about their fashion sense, it's not like the "Glee" stars have always been at the top of the clotheshorse pecking order. As Chris Colfer notes in the upcoming issue of Vogue, "In no way was I a fashion person! I did all my shopping at my small-town Target. Maybe if I dressed better I wouldn’t have had such a hard time in school. Now, as Kurt, I get to wear all these amazing things, by people whose names I can’t even pronounce."

Lynch on hosting Emmys: I hope no one cringes

    Danny Moloshok / Reuters

Jane Lynch is hosting the Emmys on Sept. 13.

    By Anna Chan

Remember Rob Lowe’s cheesy performance with Snow White at the Oscars in 1989? Yeah, so does Jane Lynch. But not for a good reason.

"What was the theme ... the Rob Lowe with Snow White. That’s one of the most cringed moments I’ve ever experienced watching an awards show," she told reporters at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour in Los Angeles on Friday afternoon.

Lynch, who will be hosting the Emmys on Sept. 18, is aiming higher for her awards-show gig. “My goal is that no one will cringe, or that very few people will cringe,” she said.

But for “Glee” fans hoping to see a lot of her bullying coach Sue Sylvester, you may want to dial down your expectations. “There are some ideas out there for Sue Sylvester, but I think we’ll probably leave her tracksuit at the Paramount lot,” said Lynch.

Emmys executive producer Mark Burnett agreed. “If there’s any nod to Sue, it’ll be very very minor,” he said.

Are you disappointed that there may not be a lot of Sue Sylvester during the Emmys? Share your thoughts on our Facebook page.

Is Journey TV's favorite band? Believe it!

    Steve C. Mitchell / EPA

    By Ree Hines

Popular music often sets the tone to the scenes we watch on the small screen. Songs punctuate the sad moments, highlight the good times and sometimes they just fill the void when there’s nothing to be said. And it seems one band — heck, one song — gets the chance to do that more than any other.

From dramas to sitcoms, from talent shows to boardroom battles, TV favors Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’ ” time and time again.

Not a believer? Just check out this selection of shows that “goes on and on and on and on ...”:

“The Sopranos” final bow may have left some fans less than satisfied, but the music certainly wasn’t a problem.

Watch the “Family Guy” gang put their (giggity) spin on the classic.

J.D. and Chris even swapped a few lyrics on “Scrubs” (much to Carla’s chagrin).

Metal man James Durbin, otherwise known as the guy robbed of his rightful spot in the “American Idol” finals last season (Still bitter? You bet!) rocked the crowd with his take on “Believin’.”

When Vincent “Big (ahem)” Pastore of “The Sopranos” walked out of Donald Trump’s boardroom on “The Celebrity Apprentice,” he did so to a familiar tune.

Of course, no show ever quite embraced the Journey hit quite like “Glee.” The song appeared in the very first episode.

Then the track showed up again when “Glee’s” New Directions went to regionals.

And finally, “Glee” took Journey on a journey, as the cast performed "Don't Stop Believin' " on the U.K. version of “The X Factor.”

Which show made the best use of the song about a small-town girl and city boy? Share your thoughts on our Facebook page.
