Jon Gosselin worried after 'Plus 8' editor's child porn arrest

Angela Weiss / Getty Images file

Former "Jon & Kate Plus 8" star Jon Gosselin has fears in the wake of William Blankinship's arrest.

    By Ree Hines

After the news broke that reality TV editor William Blankinship was arrested for possession of child pornography, former “Jon & Kate Plus 8” star Jon Gosselin feared what else Blankinship might possess.

In an interview with Star magazine (with excerpts available from Radar Online), Gosselin revealed that he’s already trying to find out what the editor, who worked directly with footage of the “Plus 8,” might have.

“I have contacted an attorney, and I’m trying to gather all the information from the authorities in North Carolina to see if there is any evidence he has footage of our family or if he has distributed it,” Gosselin told the magazine.

The sort of footage that is of particular concern to Gosselin would consist of innocent images in the eyes of any parent, but given the context of Blankinship’s arrest, could take on a much less innocent angle.

“Of course we filmed potty training,” he said. “Any parent would be freaked out by this, because the cameraman definitely shot the kids getting ready for bed, being showered and being changed.”

For now, the father of multiples has yet to reach out to his ex-wife, Kate, but he said he intends to soon.

“I will write her an email because I feel this is going to explode, because it is so bad,” he stated in the interview.

Days ago, Figure 8 Films, who contracted Blankinship for “Plus 8” and other TLC shows, issued a statement insisting the editor never had contact with the children.

"At no time was this man ever in the field or in direct contact with any of the talent for any of our productions,” the statement read.

Do think Gosselin is right to be concerned, given the news? Share your thoughts on our Facebook page.

Sneak peek: Kate and her 'Plus 8' say goodbye

    By Anna Chan

Kate Gosselin and her eight little ones are saying goodbye to reality TV -- for now, anyway -- with tonight's series finale of "Kate Plus 8."

In an advance clip provided by TLC, several of the children express their sadness at saying goodbye to the cameras. "The last episode of our show," said one of the older girls. "That's why I'm making the sad face."

She wasn't the only one who was sad. Well, maybe "sad" isn't quite the right word. Mama Kate told the cameras that she's basically terrified. "When I look in the mirror and all of that responsibility is on me -- essentially all of it -- ooh! Scary!"

The finale airs tonight at 9 p.m. on TLC. Will you be tuning in? Share your thoughts on our Facebook page.

After 'Plus 8,' Kate would put her kids on TV again

    By Ree Hines

Kate, her eight, plus another TV show? It could happen.

Kate Gosselin’s ex-husband and former reality TV co-star, Jon, recently expressed his relief when he learned that TLC wouldn’t renew “Kate Plus 8.” According to the dad of multiples, the end of the show meant a beginning of privacy and “proper attention” for his kids. But as Kate herself pointed out during a Monday morning appearance on TODAY, Jon just might be celebrating the end of his kids’ TV time too soon.

Kate Gosselin tells TODAY's Matt Lauer that she was not surprised when TLC canceled "Kate Plus 8," but feels sad for her kids and fans who loved the show.

Kate revealed that she’s currently feeling a combination of sadness and fear as the final episode of “Kate Plus 8” approaches, but she’s already prepared to look ahead, no matter what her ex thinks.

“There is sadness, because it’s the end of an era,” Kate explained to TODAY host Matt Lauer. “I feel sad for my kids because of all of the opportunities that they’re now questioning. … I feel sad for fans, because they’re devastated. They’re saying, you know, you’re the neighbor moving far away and we won’t see you again. But there’s also fear because this has been, although maybe not my career, it has been the start essentially of my career and my job and the way I’ve been providing for my kids for six years. And so you know, it is a little scary.”

In a recent interview with RumorFix, Jon offered Kate some roundabout advice. “Things will work out the way they should work out," he said. "Obviously, there are families out there that have several kids — people work normal jobs, and things work out.”

    But that’s a sentiment Kate doesn’t share.

“Well, it’s a situation where Jon may be accepting of mediocre for his kids, and working a regular job,” Kate said. “But I want the best for my kids and the best opportunities, not unlike every parent. I think to be a good parent is to work as hard as you can and give them the best opportunities in life, and this has provided that.”

“This” being television, which Kate admits she hopes will continue to be a part of her life.

“I think at this point, the best opportunity for all of us would be me continuing on TV as a way to provide for my kids,” she stated. “Something that’s exciting and challenging for me has been TV, and I wouldn’t be opposed to it.”

Something else she wouldn’t be opposed to is sharing the small screen with her children once more.

“You know, if the right thing came along, I think we are all still in (agreement) with it,” she said, adding, “I’m sure you will see my kids again at some point.”

The final episode of “Kate Plus 8” airs tonight on TLC at 9 p.m. ET.

Do you think the “Plus 8” should appear on television again? Will you tune in to their final show tonight? Share your thoughts on our Facebook page.

The week's biggest TV story was ...

    Adam Olszewski / Bravo

"The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" cast, from left, Taylor Armstrong, Camille Grammer, Lisa Vanderpump, Kyle Richards, Kim Richards and Adrienne Maloof.

    By Anna Chan

Nothing grabs attention like tragedy, controversy and questionable behavior. And if we can have all three in one story, well, it turns into a must-dish piece with Clicker readers.

Monday's season two premiere of Bravo's "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" was of high interest to a lot of folks who weren't even fans of the show, due to the suicide of star Taylor Armstrong's husband, Russell. When three of the stars -- Adrienne Maloof, Kyle Richards and Lisa Vanderpump -- appeared on TODAY Monday morning to finally break their silence over the tragedy, they gave us the most popular story of the week.

Since his death, some have called for the program to be canceled, while others wanted it to continue and follow the tragedy. The trio defended the show, saying it wasn't to blame for Russell Armstrong's suicide. "He also signed up for season one, and came back for season two," said Richards.

"The thought that this show would want to continue after something like this, is wrong," wrote reader Kevin McGill on our Facebook page. "We now are feeding off of a man's death???"

"Absolutely!" replied reader Christine Locey to our Facebook question about whether people would watch the premiere. "Stuff happens and this is after all 'Reality'..."

Then there was reality TV mom Kate Gosselin, who's "Kate Plus 8" is currently airing its final episodes. Whether it's because this is the TLC series' last season or the mom of eight's behavior, Clicker readers kept clicking on posts about her. The top pick? Gosselin nanny Ashley quitting after a big fight with Kate -- over pizza. Yes, pizza. Mama Kate was livid that her nanny had fed her hungry kids the last few slices -- slices that were supposedly saved for adults.

Many readers were on Team Ashley:

"It struck me as really odd that a woman would want her own children to NOT eat something out of deference to a grown man who refuses to eat salad and/or macaroni and cheese," wrote reader Paula Karr on our Facebook page. "Who's acting like the child?"

"Ashley don't have a change of heart unless you (intend) on being abused more there isn't enough hazard pay to work with someone like Kate," wrote reader Cindy Markus Deeds.

But Gosselin did have her defenders: "Kate has an intense personality and managing 8 independent minds 24/7 and a career as sole provider must be overwhelming...have a little empathy," wrote reader Ann Untereiner Sorensen-Mechtenberg.

But enough about her, let's get to the third most popular story, but the most discussed one: "Toddlers & Tiaras" very own little "Pretty Woman." On Wednesday's episode, pageant mom Wendy Dickey dressed up her little daughter as Julia Roberts' working girl, complete with thigh-high boots, blonde wig and tiny skirt.

But it didn't end there. After the clip of little Paisley in her inappropriate costume appeared online, Dickey defended the outfit, telling TMZ that it was harmless and "less revealing than gynastics wear and swimsuits." Then later, she decided to auction off the getup to benefit charity. Wow, was the level of outrage high! (And understandably so.)

"I am disgusted on so many levels.....shame on the mom, the pagent organizers and TLC for showing this crap," wrote reader Michele Ballard Zimmermann on our Facebook page. "When is it ever ok to dress your daughter up as a hooker??? NEVER!!!"

"This child is beautiful....but the 'pretty woman' theme totally crossed the line," wrote reader Diane Gogots Gillespie. "You basically called your child a prostitute. Selling it with the proceeds going to charity is a nice though but it is prob going to be bought by some sick pedophile."

Jon to Kate: 'Reality television is not a career'

    By Anna Chan

Jon Gosselin made no effort to conceal his joy over the cancellation of "Kate Plus 8," saying he was "relieved" that the show was over and that his kids could finally have some much needed privacy. And now he has some words of advice for ex-wife Kate, who will be showless after the Sept. 12 finale.

In an interview with RumorFix.com, Jon said that he goes to work every day and does the best that he can, and that Kate needs to do the same. "Reality television is not a career," he said. "Get back to normal life, simple life. Provide for your family and go from there."

The dad of eight told the website that working a normal job to put food on the table is "growing up, and that's part of life."

    Check out the interview:

Nanny quits after 'Kate Plus 8' blowup

    TLC

Kate reacts to her problem with the "paid help."

    By Ree Hines

How much of a difference does an extra set of hands make when tending the needs of eight kids? Just ask the always harried and now nanny-free Kate Gosselin.

On Monday night’s episode of “Kate Plus 8,” nanny, babysitter and all-round-sanity-saver Ashley packed her bags and left the adorable Gosselin brood behind after one big battle with their mom.

As last week’s preview teased, the drama all began when Kate clashed with Ashley and BBF Jamie because they dared to allow the “Plus 8” to eat pizza. That pizza was meant for the grownups and according to Kate, the kids should have had salad. To make matters worse, Ashley had one of the children surrender the last piece of pizza — barehanded.

    “That is disgusting!” Kate complained.

And the complaints hardly stopped there. In fact, Kate felt that, despite the fact that Ashley had at least fed the children, it was really up to her to do all the work.

“That’s not paid help, in my opinion,” Kate told the camera.

Having had enough, Ashley decided Kate was right, and she wouldn’t make her boss pay her at all anymore. With tears in her eyes, and eight other sets of eyes, Ashley said goodbye.

Will the devoted sitter stay away? Viewers will find out when the series finale of “Kate Plus 8” airs Sept. 12 on TLC.

Do you think Ashley will have a change of heart, or has Kate finally pushed her away for good? Share your thoughts on our Facebook page.

Kate Gosselin freaks out over pizza on 'Plus 8'

    TLC

    By Anna Chan

What's a road trip without some tempers flaring? When a bunch of people are confined to tight quarters with the same folks for days on end, things are bound to get a bit testy -- especially on the upcoming episode of "Kate Plus 8."

When one of the RVs started spewing coolant, Kate started spewing some attitude. She slammed a door in one person's face, got snippy about luggage and threatened to look at footage just so she can prove someone "scoffed" at her.

But that's not even the best part! When her pal in the other RV told Kate that the kids were eating the adults' pizza, the claws came out. Kate insisted that the last slice go to Steve, which little Maddy hands to him without a plate.

"Oh my gosh! That is disgusting!" Kate exclaimed. She then freaked out at her friend for allowing the kids to eat the pizza, insisting it was all the adults had to eat for lunch. (Despite just saying that there are salads available, and her friend pointing out that there is also mac and cheese.)

    Check it out:

The episode airs Monday, Sept. 5 at 9 p.m. on TLC.

Big deal out of nothing, or did Kate have a point? Share your thoughts on our Facebook page!

The biggest TV story of the week was ...

    David Livingston / Getty Images

Russell Armstrong of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" committed suicide.

    By Anna Chan

If you didn't guess this one right away, you probably weren't paying much attention to entertainment news this week.

The suicide of "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" husband Russell Armstrong and the discovery of his body Monday night was the biggest clicker of the week by a long shot. And no wonder: His death came as a shock to both fans of the show and those who don't watch. It also fueled arguments all week on our Facebook page over whether reality TV is to blame, whether he was selfish to commit the act, and if Bravo should edit or cancel the series. (The network's president confirmed Friday that Bravo is indeed re-editing season two, though still no word on whether the Sept. 5 premiere date will be delayed.)

Then readers moved on to less serious news:  the cancellation of two TLC series.  The network announced on Monday that it was not renewing the once popular "Kate Plus 8," and that the last episode would air Sept. 12. Star Kate Gosselin tweeted to fans that "there were many tears at the breakfast table" when her family got the news. But not everyone was sad. Papa Jon Gosselin told Radar Online that he was "relieved" his eight children would finally have "more privacy."

Then on Thursday, TLC sent me a statement saying it was also canceling Kat Von D's "LA Ink" after the current season. The tattoo artist fought back at the network via Twitter, saying, "I love how me deciding to not continue doing LA Ink, turns into being 'cancelled.' " She then accused the network of "capitalizing" on her split with ex-fiance Jesse James, who announced a few short hours later that the two had gotten re-engaged. Wonder if TLC is sorry to miss out on that story for what could've been a fifth season ...

Also popular this week was the always adorable Anne Hathaway. The actress appeared on "Conan" Tuesday night to talk about her film work. But rather than just stick to gabbing her new movie "One Day" and upcoming role as Catwoman in the new "Batman," the actress showed off her mad rap skillz by performing a little tune -- Lil' Wayne style -- that she wrote herself.

Jon Gosselin 'relieved' 'Kate Plus 8' is ending

Jon Gosselin is happy that cameras won't be following his eight kids around anymore.

    By Anna Chan

While Kate Gosselin said "there were many tears at the breakfast table this morning" after TLC announced that it is not renewing "Kate Plus 8," there's at least one person in the family who's glad the cameras will stop rolling.

    Her ex-husband, Jon Gosselin.

In an exclusive interview with Radar Online, the father of eight said that he's "very relieved" and hopes the end of the show "will bring more privacy to my children and that they can get the proper attention they need for any personal issues they might have in the future."

A source close to Jon told our pals at Access Hollywood that the show's cancellation was no surprise to the former reality TV personality. "The writing was on the wall for a long time," the source told Access on Monday. "(Kate's) popularity has waned and the public sees that a lot of her doting on the kids on the show was just for the show and outside of that her time is dedicated to her own interests."

The TLC show was called "Jon and Kate Plus 8" when it first launched in 2007, but was renamed to "Kate Plus 8" starting in season six, after the Gosselins split in 2009. The show then turned its focus to Kate being a single parent.

The final episode of "Kate Plus 8" will air Sept. 12.

    TLC cancels 'Kate Plus 8'

    Clark Mccarthy-Miller / TLC

    By Anna Chan

Looks like Jon and Kate Gosselin's eight children will have a chance to grow up without cameras following their every move after this season.

"TLC has decided not to renew another season of 'Kate Plus 8,' " the network said in a statement to TODAY.com. "By the end of this season 'Kate Plus 8' will have hit the 150 episode mark (including 'Jon & Kate Plus 8'); an exceptional milestone."

"We've had a great run!" Kate tweeted after the news was announced. "Six years of whirlwind funfilled adventures thanks to TLC and our many many supportive &diehard fans! While it is very sad for me and the kids (there were many tears at the breakfast table this morning!), we are looking forward with great anticipation to our bright future."

The mom of eight plans to keep herself busy after her reality show ends. "I can't wait2have the chance2challenge myself again w future endeavors!" she tweeted. "In the meanX, I hope 2have more time4motivational speaking, book writing &other fun work opportunities that come my way ... And mayteve even some dating??!!"

But for fans of the family or those curious about how the kids will turn out, stay tuned. "TLC hopes to check in with Kate and the family periodically with specials in the future," the network said.

The last episode will air on Sept. 12.

"Kate Plus 8" currently airs Mondays at 9 p.m. On tonight's episode, Gosselin answers viewers' questions, including whether she's dating again and how many plastic surgeries she's had done. Check out this sneak peek:

Kate uses cupcakes to attract man on 'Plus 8' premiere

    By Ree Hines

Mom of multiples Kate Gosselin recently revealed that her kids “are just begging (her) to get married again.” That might just explain Gosselin’s sudden efforts to get a guy on the season premiere of “Kate Plus 8.”

It all started when Gosselin, who was brushing up on her baking skills at a cupcake shop, spotted something sweet.

“At one point I looked up and there was a guy across the street, and he had really awesome sunglasses on, and he had, like, speckly hair that was, like, good hair,” she said.

That’s when Gosselin hatched a confectionery plan.

“I saw you from across the street, and I decided to make a cupcake for you,” she said, offering a treat to the total stranger.

The man was interested — in the cupcake. At least he would have been if only it were gluten-free. A quick-thinking Gosselin swapped the gift for the preferred variety, but it didn’t seem to help her.

As it turned out, he had no idea who the reality star was and wasn't particularly interested in finding out.

If cupcakes can’t seal the deal, what’s Gosselin to do? Offer your best suggestions on our Facebook page!

Kate's 'Plus 8' want her to start dating

    By Randee Dawn

Kate and her eight are ready to date!

That's just one tidbit Kate Gosselin shared during her interview with TODAY's Ann Curry on Monday. Gosselin's show, "Kate Plus 8" returns Monday night on TLC, and that means both fans -- and critics -- are wondering: Just how is America's most notorious single mom dealing with both her brood and trying to find a new man?

"I'm definitely ready to start dating," said Gosselin, who added she'd like to get some of her best friends to round up any eligible men. "There are a lot of obstacles for me. The odds of me bumping into someone are rare."

Those obstacles, of course, aren't just about having eight kids -- but about carrying on so much of her life in front of television cameras. That's something that doesn't readily fit on a Match.com dating profile, and she said as much to Curry.

"I have eight kids, I have a crazy work schedule, I'm known," said Gosselin. "It's sort of daunting when I think about the obstacles. I'm hoping that person is out there, because the kids on a daily basis are just begging me to get married again. They bring it up all the time."

Raising her kids solo (she and Jon Gosselin divorced in 2009) has been a real challenge, she added. "I'm not going to lie, it's really settling in now two years later being a single mom of eight kids. It's difficult. I've had a lot of difficult moments and stressful moments, and you're going to see it (on the show), the good, the bad and the ugly."

She also addressed rumors that her show was winding down, and would likely be canceled: "Nobody has told me. We will do it as long as people are watching."

Which, she acknowledged, means the show could follow her children all the way into high school -- though Gosselin chuckled, "I might be dead by then."
