'Teen Mom' Amber Portwood in jail again

    By Ashley Majeski, TODAY.com contributor

    Louis A Raynor / MTV

Amber Portwood turns 22 on Monday, but it doesn’t look like it will be much of a happy birthday for the “Teen Mom” star. She will likely be spending her birthday alone behind bars in an Indiana jail cell after her latest run-in with the law.

Portwood was arrested Thursday in Anderson, Ind. According to TMZ, she had failed to report for her weekly drug court appointment, which is a violation of the terms of her court-mandated drug rehab program. The MTV star could spend as much as a few weeks in jail while she waits for the court to review her case.

Portwood took a plea deal earlier this year and agreed to participate in the strict rehab program following a December 2011 arrest for drug and probation violation charges that landed her in jail for over two months.

According to The Herald Bulletin, the drug court felt the “Teen Mom” star was “falling short of fulfilling her obligations in the program while recuperating from surgery.”

Portwood’s attorney, Evan Broderick, told the newspaper that Portwood was granted leniency from the program while she recovered from recent surgery. However, she was expected to continue with her rehab program as much as possible.

“I think things came to light that she could have been doing more,” Broderick told The Herald Bulletin.

This is not the first time Portwood has struggled to uphold her obligations to her drug-rehab program. In March, she was nearly thrown back in jail for failing to provide her court-mandated weekly urine sample. For that violation, she was given an extra 30 days of daily drug testing and was forced to write a 500-word report on why she was in drug court.

As of now, she has not been terminated from the drug rehab program, but she remains in jail.

Portwood’s legal troubles began back in 2010 when she was arrested for assaulting her baby’s father, Gary Shirley, while MTV cameras rolled. Shirley, who currently has full custody of their daughter, Leah, found out about his ex-girlfriend’s most-recent arrest from fans on Twitter.

“So just found out she is in jail, WTF I didn't even know,” he tweeted Friday morning.  “I was trying to help Leah get her something [for her birthday]. Postponed.”

MTV viewers won’t get to see Portwood’s latest trip to the slammer play out on “Teen Mom.” The series, whose fourth and final season premieres June 19, is no longer taping. The cast taped the final reunion show back in February.

Do you think Amber will be able to get her life back on track now that she's no longer being filmed? Share your thoughts on our Facebook page.

'Teen Mom' Leah Messer weds Jeremy Calvert

    By Us Weekly

Leah Messer is once again a married woman!

Nearly one year after filing to divorce first husband Corey Simms, mom of twins Messer, 19, tied the knot with fiance Jeremy Calvert Wednesday in Catlettsburg, Ky., local news outlet The Daily Independent reports.

PHOTOS: Look back at Leah and Corey's wedding

Swapping vows in front of MTV cameras at the Catlettsburg Wedding Chapel, Messer and Calvert asked their mothers to serve as witnesses to the ceremony, officiated by Rev. Marty Gute. Approximately 15-20 guests -- including cameramen, producers and Messer's twins -- were in attendance.

PHOTOS: Adorable pics of Leah with Ali and Aleeah

"Everybody was happy and joyful and took a ton of pictures," Gute told The Independent. "I think they wanted to keep it out of the news, but the producer said he knew it would hit Facebook soon. He asked my daughter not to tweet about it, though."

According to Gute, the couple is expected to have another larger ceremony at a later date.

Calling it quits with Simms after just six months, Messer is confident new husband Calvert is The One.

"We have a really good connection," Messer gushed to Us Weekly about her beau, who proposed last Christmas as Messer's 2-year-old twins, Ali and Aleeah looked on. "It's different from Corey and my relationship, because we were kinda like forcing it.... With Jeremy, you know when you're supposed to be with somebody and you're not."

Lawyer: LSD accusations against 'Teen Mom' Jenelle are 'a joke'

    By Ashley Majeski, TODAY.com contributor

    MTV

Jenelle Evans denies her former friend's claim that she uses LSD.

A lawyer representing troubled “Teen Mom 2” star Jenelle Evans has come out swinging against the reality star's former BFF, who he claims is selling lies to the tabloids to pay for her own legal problems.

Evans’ on-and-off-again best friend, Tori Rhyne, recently went to Star magazine with claims that Evans has been using LSD, telling the tabloid, “She does it a lot -- she fell in love with it.”

Rhyne also revealed that Evans is a frequent user of other drugs, including Ecstasy, Xanax, Adderall and alcohol.

"I do worry about her because I don't want her to have a bad trip and never be able to get out of it. I want Jenelle to straighten up her life,” Rhyne told the magazine.

The explosive claims could cause trouble for Evans, who is currently on probation stemming from several previous arrests, including one involving a misdemeanor drug charge.

Evans’ lawyer, Dustin Sullivan, has responded to the story, saying Rhyne is not only trying to cash in on her former best friend’s fame, but also get some much-needed cash for herself.

“I’m sure Jenelle’s accuser is simply attempting to collect money to pay for her recent driving while impaired charge she has pending in Brunswick County (N.C.),” he told TODAY.com.

Sullivan insists that his client is not only drug-free, but has truly turned a corner in her recovery process. “Teen Mom 2” viewers watched as Evans headed to rehab during season two to address her marijuana dependency issues.

“Jenelle has been clean and sober since July of last year and has successfully completed each and every random drug test that was given to her every week for nearly eight months,” he said.

Evans also took to her Twitter account to defend herselfagainst her former BFF's accusations. "Why sell me out to a magazine for DUI money when I'm on probation, accusing me of doing drugs when I haven't even seen or hung out with tori in f------ months since February," she tweeted Wednesday. "I'm passing my drug tests and staying clean and going to college," she added on Thursday.

This isn't the first time she's spoken  out against Rhyne's claims that she's been dropping acid on the regular. "That stuff scares me,” she recently told a fan on Twitter. “I'm bipolar as it is, why would I want to even try to mess up my head more than it is?"

Rhyne had been friends with Evans since junior high, but the two recently had a falling out and no longer speak — except to exchange the occasional jab on Twitter.

Sullivan said that Rhyne is trying to cash in on the “Teen Mom 2” star’s fame while the show is still a hit. While MTV has revealed that the show will have a fourth season — which is currently being filmed — the  network has yet to comment if that season will be the last for the series.

    Follow @TODAY_Clicker

“This is yet another attempt by those around Jenelle trying to get their two seconds of fame [by] slandering my client,” Sullivan said. “These stories are a joke. These folks are just trying to collect money while they still can.”

Amber Portwood's brother is 'thrilled' 'Teen Mom' is ending

    By Ashley Majeski, TODAY.com contributor

    Madison County Sheriff Dept.

Amber Portwood of "Teen Mom" has faced a number of legal issues since the show launched.

Fans of the MTV megahit "Teen Mom" were saddened last week when the network announced that the upcoming season would be the show’s last.  Viewers first met the show’s stars -- Maci Bookout, Farrah Abraham, Amber Portwood and Catelynn Lowell -- back in 2009 during the first season of the MTV docuseries "16 & Pregnant" and have watched their lives unfold through breakups, baby milestones, engagements and even trouble with the law.

While some will miss the popular spinoff, others feel "Teen Mom" has run its course and it’s time for the young women to experience life — without the MTV paycheck.

“I am thrilled,” Shawn Portwood, the brother of troubled "Teen Mom" star Amber, told TODAY.com. “I do not believe that the show should have survived more than a year or two at the most. I am happy that (the stars) actually have to pursue their lives now.”

Amber has seen her share of legal woes lately, all stemming back to an arrest in 2010 for an incident that was shown on "Teen Mom" in which Amber got physically violent with her baby’s father, Gary Shirley. She was arrested a few weeks after the episode aired and has been in trouble with the law ever since. She recently spent nearly two months in jail and is currently out on probation and participating in an outpatient rehab program.

According to her brother, Amber hasn’t had much time to reflect on the end of the show, despite the fact that she will lose her only income when it does finally go off air.

“She has been so busy doing other things,” Sean told us. “Amber has been getting up every day at 6 a.m. to go to the courthouse and submit drug screens and everything else. Amber physically has no time to worry about MTV.”

Shawn added that he is excited to see the girls have to grow up and live the normal life of a young parent who doesn’t have an MTV paycheck to rely on to pay their bills.

Viewers of the show have watched as the young moms have rented homes, purchased new cars and even gotten plastic surgery procedures despite the fact that very few of them have a "real" job. With the MTV paychecks coming to an end, the ladies will either have to return to normal life or use their "Teen Mom" fame to help them stay in the spotlight.

“I am sure they will try to milk the television scene as much as possible,” Shawn said. “(Amber) is ready for a 9-to-5 (job) and hopefully she can get a little extra money on the side doing other things. It is time to get Amber out of the spotlight, which is what she has been trying to do since she has been out (of jail).”

The fourth and final season of "Teen Mom" will begin airing this summer. MTV has yet to comment on the fate of the franchise’s other shows, "Teen Mom 2" and "16 & Pregnant." However, last month the network released a statement confirming that it will be launching "Teen Mom 3" with girls from the upcoming season of "16 & Pregnant."

    Follow @TODAY_Clicker

While the new girls seem promising, it will be hard for the new batch to surpass the drama factor that the original bunch have brought to the show. Loyal fans will miss Amber and Gary’s constant breakups, the drama between Maci and her baby-daddy Ryan, the strength of adoption advocates Catelynn and Tyler, and, of course, Farrah’s often-mocked “cry face,” which has made it into nearly every episode of the show.

Which of the gals do you think will have the most success post-"Teen Mom"? Share your predictions on our Facebook page.

The original "Teen Moms" are getting ready to say goodbye.

"Season 4 will be the final season of 'Teen Mom' with Maci, Catelynn, Amber and Farrah," MTV tells Us Weekly in an exclusive statement. "They will continue to be a part of our MTV family, and we're thankful to these brave young women for sharing their stories and helping to make a positive impact on teen pregnancy prevention."

Maci Bookout, Amber Portwood, Farrah Abraham and Catelynn Lowell all starred in the first season of MTV's "16 and Pregnant" back in 2009, and moved on to appear in the first cast of the groundbreaking, popular reality docudrama about the struggles and triumphs of young, unwed mothers.

As teen birth rates in the U.S. continue to drop, Bookout, Portwood, Abraham and Lowell have all lent their time to speak about teen pregnancy, MTV notes. "From appearing in a series of teen pregnancy prevention PSAs to speaking at high schools around the country, these young women have become advocates for this issue."

The premiere date of "Teen Mom's" fourth and final season has not yet been announced, but is expected to air in summer 2012.

'Teen Mom' star says show doesn't glamorize teen pregnancy

    MTV

Kailyn Lowry, left, (seen here with fellow "Teen Mom 2" stars Jenelle Evans, Leah Simms and Chelsea Houska) insists there's nothing glamorous about teen pregnancy or MTV's programming on the topic.

    By Ree Hines

Some critics claim that MTV's assortment of teen pregnancy-related programming, including "16 and Pregnant," "Teen Mom" and "Teen Mom 2," does little more than glamorize teen pregnancy. But one of the young moms who's starred in two of those shows couldn't disagree more.

Kailyn Lowry, who graduated from a single episode of "16 and Pregnant" to regular status on "Teen Mom 2," insists the show actually helps discourage teen pregnancy.

"As a pregnant teen I took an opportunity that was presented to me," Lowry recently wrote in the first of a series of tweets. "Luck, or whatever the reason, allowed me to be a voice of teen pregnancy. I wasn't picked for the show to be turned into a star, they chose me to show my struggles & help someone else think twice about their actions."

And with a documented drop in teen pregnancy rates since the shows first aired, she feels that goal has been met.

"I'm so tired of hearing that 'Teen Mom' glamorizes teen pregnancy," she continued. "I've been on my own & a single parent since I was 17. Is that glamorous? I don't have relationships w/either of my parents & I struggle dealing with teenage emotions & adult responsibility. That's glamorous?"

    Not at all.

Drug test may mean more troubles for 'Teen Mom' Amber Portwood

Madison County Sheriff Departmen / AP

"Teen Mom's" Amber Portwood insists she didn't skip a required drug test. On Thursday, a judge will decide if that's really the case.

By Josh Grossberg and Katie Rhames, E! Online

Amber Portwood may be in trouble again, this time for failing to take a mandatory daily drug test that was a condition of her probation in her December drug arrest, according to various media accounts.

If true, not only would it put her at risk of being sent to the slammer, but she'd also leave behind 2-year-old daughter Leah for the foreseeable future.

In an exclusive interview with E! News, Portwood vehemently denied the allegations.

MORE: Amber Portwood denied! Judge refuses to let her participate in "Teen Mom" reunion

"I would be in jail if I skipped" she told us. "Honestly, I don't give a s--- what people are saying...I'm doing what I have to do...they are not a concern of mine."

If a court rules Thursday that she failed to live up to her probation obligations, the MTV personality could face up to five years in prison, which was the sentence she received in January for a felony drug-possession charge.

The punishment was suspended, however, after Portwood accepted a plea deal that allowed her to enter an eight-month outpatient rehab at Sister 2 Sister Ministries, a halfway house where she underwent counseling and daily screenings.

But a source close to the 21-year-old told E! News that Amber did indeed go for the required urine test, but she sat for over an hour and "just couldn't pee," and media outlets, notably TMZ, spun it as if she never took it.

Let's hope for her sake the judge agrees, otherwise Portwood could be remanded into custody to serve out the original jail term.

'Teen Mom' Jenelle Evans charged with cyberstalking former boss

    MTV

Jenelle Evans is having a hard time staying out of the tangled arms of the law.

    By Brandi Fowler, E! Online

Jenelle Evans in jail? This is starting to feel like deja-vu all over again.

Following the "Teen Mom" reunion in New York over the weekend, the reality-TV trainwreck was back in her home away home (i.e., the Bruswick County, N.C., jail) today, less than two months after her last go-round in her local hoosegow.

So, what was the "Teen Mom 2" star arrested for this time?

MORE: "Teen Mom's" Jenelle Evans: Restraining orders against her dismissed

    Misdemeanor stalking.

The troubled 20-year-old was back behind bars following accusations by her former boss James Duffy which resulted in an arrest warrant.

According to Team Jenelle, the whole thing is a misunderstanding and Jenelle actually turned herself in to clear up the matter.

"Duffy filed cyberstalking charges against Jenelle," Jenelle's agent, Leo Daniels, tells E! News. "She has not posted anything about him in a long time. Duffy came up with these accusations ... Jenelle was aware of the warrant because Duffy posted all about it on Facebook and Twitter on Friday. Jenelle was in New York over the weekend. When she returned home, she went up to see what was going on. She was read the charges and they let her go."

The two have been engaged in a nasty back-and-forth for the past few months. Evans first filed cyberstalking charges against Duffy just a few weeks ago, after he allegedly released party photos of the young mom online, among other things.

Of course, Evans is no stranger to run-ins with the law. Back in January, she was taken into custody on two separate occasions, once for allegedly violating a domestic violence protection order and another time for allegedly harassing her former roommate.

As for the latest trouble, the Brunswick County Sheriff's Department confirms Evans was released from jail this afternoon after posting $1,000 bond, and is set to appear back in court March 23.

"Well I'm having a fantastic morning lmao," Evans tweeted Monday, later writing, "Bye bye twitter for a month :(."

What led to Leah and Corey's 'Teen Mom 2' split? Infidelity ... and hot dogs!

Why did Leah lose her love for Corey? Dr. Drew found out on the "Teen Mom 2" reunion special.

    By Drusilla Moorhouse, E! Online

For such a tumultuous season, "Teen Mom 2" sure went out with a whimper last night.

After Jenelle and Kailyn's reunion "checkup" with Dr. Drew Pinsky last week, it was Leah and Chelsea's turn on the couch.

So much has changed in the girls' lives since this show was taped last year that tonight it often seemed like we were re-watching the last season of "Lost." Fortunately, we did learn some juicy new tidbits -- like the real reason for the breakdown in Leah and Corey's marriage....

LAST WEEK'S RECAP: Who got an STD?

    Beef hot dogs.

Sure, other factors -- cheating, lack of intimacy -- contributed to their divorce, but obviously Corey had checked out of this marriage when he came home with beef hot dogs instead of "pork and chicken." (Is this a West Virginia specialty?) "You said I hurt your feelings," said Corey. Well, obviously! He couldn't have hurt her more than if he'd hooked up with Robbie himself.

MORE: Out with the "old," in with the new: Meet the new cast of "16 and Pregnant"!

Another reveal? Leah not only cheated with her ex-boyfriend a week before her wedding, but she hooked up with him at her bachelorette party! We're not here to judge -- after all, Robbie could've jumped out of a cake with his arms full of pork and chicken hot dogs, and who could resist that?

Dr. Drew, almost as upset as Leah about the couple's breakup, finally persuaded Corey to go to therapy with Leah, and they've since reconciled ... in Dr. Drew's dreams! Leah is now engaged to marry someone else, who will probably insist on a joint bachelor-bachelorette party before their wedding.

The only revelation in Chelsea's "checkup" was Dr. Drew's baffling man-crush on Adam, Chelsea's immature baby daddy. "He's actually changed," the doctor insisted about the notoriously abusive texter who once referred to their daughter Aubree as a "mistake."

The Adam-smitten doctor even encouraged the couple to express their love on national TV. Since we're not members of the Adam Fan Club (Drew Pinsky, president), and know that Chelsea is now reportedly involved in an MTV crossover romance with a Caged MMA fighter, we didn't join the audience's collective "awww."

Did Chelsea get her GED? Will she and Adam continue this unhealthy attract-and-repel relationship? Will Leah's mom start forcing depo shots on all the teenage girls of Kanawha County? Guess we'll have to wait until the next season of Teen Mom 2 to find out!

MTV gives the go-ahead for 'Teen Mom 3'

    By Anna Chan

Love it or hate it, viewers are about to get even more of MTV's popular "Teen Mom" series. The network announced Monday that it has greenlit yet another spin-off with "Teen Mom 3."

Few details are available, but MTV notes that the new show will follow four new teens, who have not yet been announced. There isn't a premiere date yet either.

But until "Teen Mom 3" makes its debut, there are still plenty of lessons to learn from a new batch of 12 young parents on "16 and Pregnant," which returns on March 27 at 10 p.m. (Watch the preview below.) And for those who want to know what the original "Teen Moms" -- Amber Portwood, Catelynn Lowell, Maci Bookout and Farrah Abraham -- have been up to, the popular docuseries will return for another season as well.

Are "Teen Mom" and "Teen Mom 2" enough to show kids the difficulties of being a teen parent? Or would a third one with new young parents help shed even more light on how hard it is? Share your thoughts on our Facebook page.
