Exclusive peek: Mom of twins has a clear favorite on 'Toddlers & Tiaras'

    By Ree Hines

She might have two beautiful daughters, but as far as pageant mom Kelly is concerned, there's only one winner between them -- and she isn't shy about saying it. In fact, while some parents resist picking favorites between their kids at all, Kelly shares her personal preference with the world on the next episode of "Toddlers & Tiaras."

According to Kelly, her girls, 4-year-old fraternal twins Giavanna and Alycesaundra, couldn't be more different. Oh, sure, they look just alike and both compete in pageants, but it ends there.

"Alycesaundra is a fireball!" the mother can be heard to boast in an exclusive sneak peek for the upcoming episode. "She's got tons of personality. And Giavanna is ... um, I guess ... it's not her personality. I'm just a realist. I've got one kid that's a brat, and one kid that's great."

    Follow @TODAY_Clicker

No doubt one day they'll have plenty to say about mom too. Until then, the little ones prepare for their next pageant, and even there, it seems Kelly's giving her favorite an edge.

"Alycesaundra's routine is with a (tutu-and-tiara-clad) baby sheep named Butterball," she explained. Meanwhile, the "brat" will parade around with an actual butterball. "Giavanna's routine is with Tom the turkey."

Although Kelly believes she and girls (or at least Alycesaundra) have the win in the bag, she also thinks she has it harder than other pageant moms.

"You know, I hear the moms that complain about having one pageant kid," she sneered. "I'm like, 'Shut up, you hag! Try it with two.'"

"Toddlers & Tiaras" airs Wednesday nights at 10p.m. ET on TLC.

Do you think it's appropriate for the mother of twins to clearly pick a favorite and tell the world about it? Share your thoughts on our Facebook page.

Vanessa Williams rips 'Toddlers & Tiaras'

By Alexis L. Loinaz, E! Online

Maybe now would be a good time for the folks behind "Toddlers & Tiaras" to wish for world peace. The controversial show is no stranger to coming under fire for its provocative presentation of young girls, having been slammed by everyone from JonBenet Ramsey's father to media outlets who've labeled its contestants as "prosti-tots."
But now, no less than former Miss America Vanessa Williams has come forward to criticize the show, and she's got some ugly things to say about "T&T's" treatment of its pretty little ladies ...

More from E: Scarlett Johansson was 'tremendously awful' to work with, jokes Jeremy Renner

In an upcoming episode of Anderson Cooper's "Anderson," the host asks the erstwhile "Desperate Housewives" star whether she thinks the kids are being pushed into appearing on the show, where they're often decked out in racy getups and made to perform suggestive numbers.

"I think they don't know what they are doing," Williams says. "But when the child is screaming and saying, 'I don't want to do this, I don't feel like doing it'-- when they are using special juice to get them hyped..."

More from E: 'Glee' scoop: Couples drama, body-swapping and Taylor Swift in weeks ahead
"Go-go juice," Cooper chimes in, referring to a supposed mix of Mountain Dew and 7UP that parents serve the girls to get them all hyped up.

"Yeah, that's not my world," Williams continues, "and I would never have my kids do that."

In 1983, Williams, who now has four children, made history by becoming the first black woman to be crowned Miss America but was dethroned after salacious nude photos of her surfaced. She recently published a memoir, "You Have No Idea," in which she revealed that she had been molested when she was 10 years old and underwent an abortion in high school.

Williams joins the growing chorus of "Toddlers & Tiaras" detractors. In March, JonBent's Ramsey's father, John Ramsey, called the show "very bizarre" and said he regretted letting his late daughter compete in child beauty pageants.

Exclusive sneak peek: 'Toddlers & Tiaras' tyke praised for 'booty pop' moves

    By Ree Hines

With all the stiff competition in the pageant world, the stars of "Toddlers & Tiaras" have to get creative to stand out in the glitzy mix.

What makes for a memorable tot-routine? In the past, some kids have channeled their inner-adults, such as Dolly Parton or a "Pretty Woman." But on the next episode of the show, one tyke decides to just shake what her mother gave her.

In an exclusive sneak peek, 5-year-old Trinity donned her ruffled, pink-princess finery and proceeded to put on a "booty" routine.

"C'mon, girl! Shake it!" Trinity's mom cheered.

She did. But lest anyone fear the pageant judges might have taken issue with the not-so-kid-friendly choreography, rest assured they did not.

    Follow @TODAY_Clicker

"Trinity's booty pop? I thought was awesome," judge Charlotte Booth insisted. "She was on that stage, and that was her. That was something she would have done at home, (in front of) the mirror. And you could tell she was excited to do it."

See how Trinity fared compared to her competition when "Toddlers & Tiaras" airs Wednesday night at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.

'Toddlers' tot wants to become an exterminator -- and kill Justin Bieber

    TLC

    By Anna Chan

Dolled-up little princesses are a rather common sight on "Toddlers & Tiaras," but Wednesday's new episode is offering something different -- a girl who doesn't mind getting dirty, and wants to grow up to be an exterminator.

In a sneak peek, 5-year-old Bridgett of Elkville, Ill., happily digs around in her muddy backyard for her prey and leaves her tiaras in her room.

"I like to kill the worms. I like to kill grasshoppers. I like to kill bees," she tells the cameras. But that's not all.

"I like to kill Justin Bieber," the non-Belieber admits.

Whoa! Clearly, the gal has different likes than many other young ladies her age.

    Follow @TODAY_Clicker

Though mom Amanda is happy to indulge her little girl's passion to rid the world of insects and helps with the backyard clean-up, she has higher hopes for Bridgett. And it doesn't involve tiaras.

"I just hope she chooses to be a doctor and saves lives, instead of being an exterminator where she takes lives," said Amanda.

    Check out the sneak peek:

"Toddlers & Tiaras" airs at 10 p.m. Wednesdays on TLC.

Exclusive peek: Pageants lead to divorce on 'Toddlers and Tiaras'

    TLC

SamiJo of "Toddlers & Tiaras" has a new man in her corner, mom's new boyfriend, HG.

    By Anna Chan

No one's going to stop mom Tricia from entering her little princess, SamiJo, in beauty pageants. Not even her husband!

When "Toddlers & Tiaras" viewers first met Tricia in January 2011, she made it clear why she wanted to have a little girl. "I decided to put SamiJo in pageants ‘cause that was the whole reason I wanted to have a daughter," Tricia revealed on the episode.

But Dad wasn't quite so on board with the whole pageant thing, and a lot of it had to do with how much they cost. "I think pageants are a waste of money," the turtle farmer had explained to TLC's cameras after telling his wife that he thinks they spent close to $100,000 on the beauty contests.

Money concerns? They're not getting in Tricia's way anymore.

"I am now divorced," Tricia, who now works at a "world famous wing place," reveals in an exclusive sneak peek TLC shared with us of Wednesday's new episode.

    Follow @TODAY_Clicker

She's also traded in her ex-husband for a new man who supports her pageant dreams for 2-year-old SamiJo.

"Me and SamiJo have a wonderful relationship," boyfriend HG says. It's so great that the man had the little girl's logo shaved into his head. "I went and got it cut just to show I support her."

    Check it out:

"Toddlers & Tiaras" airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on TLC.

Exclusive sneak peek: Mom gets 'locked and loaded' for war on 'Toddlers & Tiaras'

    By Ree Hines

Things are about to get tense on the next episode of "Toddlers & Tiaras" as veteran pageant princess Alaska and her on-stage rival Gabby face off in a battle for glitzy bragging rights. And if Alaska's parents have anything to say about, it won't be pretty.

Get a glimpse of the intense parental pageant prep in this exclusive sneak peek:

"You have to take the full arsenal of all your outfits," dad Jay warned his daughter before the big weekend showdown.

That prompted an age-appropriate response from the 9-year-old: "What's an arsenal?"

Mom Lori explained that Alaska's bounty of frilly costumes and colorful cosmetics were her arsenal.

    Follow @TODAY_Clicker

"If we were going to a pageant war, we would be pretty locked and loaded," Lori explained. "Between the outfits, the hair, the makeup, lashes, everything, I am locked, loaded, glitzing and ready to go kick some butt."

And just in case anyone thinks that Lori meant to say that Alaska, the actual pageant competitor, was the one ready to kick some backside rather than her, think again. As pageant time approached, it was Lori and Gabby's mom that were really ready to go head-to-head.

That fighting spirit from Lori should come as no surprise to regular "Toddlers & Tiaras" viewers. After all, this is the same woman who told Alaska, "You're not a stripper, but shake your butt a little bit," to get the pageant edge when last we saw her.

See how the pageant war works out when "Toddlers & Tiaras" airs Wednesday night at 10 p.m. ET.

Exclusive sneak peek: 'Toddlers & Tiaras' star forgets routine and 'blows it' on stage

    By Ree Hines

Isabella Barrett is no stranger to "Toddlers & Tiaras" viewers. The tyke is known for her rivalry with fellow pageant princess Paisley Dickey, her outspoken ways and her off-show performances -- including her headline-making, controversial take on LMFAO's "Sexy and I Know It." But on Wednesday night's season premiere, "Toddlers" viewers will see a new, somewhat less confident side of Isabella.

In an exclusive sneak peek, the pageant hopeful can be seen hitting the stage with a glitzy entrance only to get lost in her routine moments later.

Now most people might see that momentary flub as no big deal, but most people aren't Isabella's mother.

"When she got on stage, she was lost," mom Susanna said. "I feel sad. Seeing her blow it is like blowing the World Series. It's just heartbreaking to me."

    Follow @TODAY_Clicker

Then mom, overcome with emotion, had to step away from the camera.

'Toddlers & Tiaras' star Eden Wood gets her own reality show

    Retirement? What retirement?

Little Eden Wood, who found reality TV fame on "Toddlers & Tiaras," may have announced at the ripe old age of 6 that she was retiring from the pageant world and would pursue a singing career instead, but it turns out she just can't keep away from the cameras.

    Follow @TODAY_Clicker

The little beauty queen will now be starring in her own reality show called "Eden's World." The docuseries will follow Eden and her mom, Mickie, as they coach other little beauty queens each week. But that's not all. In addition to sharing her words of wisdom with other pageant hopefuls, Eden will also be pursuing a career as -- what else? -- an actress, singer and model. (That's quite a bit of work for the now 7-year-old, wouldn't you say?) Of course, the cameras will be there to capture every move the little girl makes in her quest for superstardom.

JonBenet Ramsey's father considers 'Toddlers & Tiaras' 'bizarre'

Ramsey family video via AP file

These stills from an undated Ramsey family video offer a glimpse of JonBenet Ramsey's pageant-filled past.

    By Ree Hines

If pageant princess JonBenet Ramsey were still alive, she'd be a 21-year-old today. Now, her father, John, looks back at her pageant days with regret. He also looks to how pageant life is portrayed in popular culture today, via TLC's reality TV hit "Toddlers & Tiaras," and finds it disturbing.

"It's very bizarre," Ramsey told ABC News of the glitz-themed pageant show. "And it certainly ... Patsy (JonBenet's mother) and JonBenet didn't approach it that way. We ... they just did it for fun."

TLC had no comment on Ramsey's opinion of the network's show.

But now, almost 15 years after his daughter's death, Ramsey sees things differently. He wonders if what was once fun might have actually had a role in his daughter's still-unsolved murder.

“Patsy had her sitting atop a friend’s convertible in the Christmas parade waving at the people lining the streets,” Ramsey explained. “Patsy’s mother later told me that a strange man approached the car during the parade and it made her uncomfortable. I think about these things now and it makes me cringe.  We were so naïve. I now believe with all my heart that it’s not a good idea to put your child on public display.”

    Follow @TODAY_Clicker

Ramsey added that high-profile pageants "might have drawn attention to us," before warning other parents to "recognize that, regardless of where you live, there could be evil around you.  And don't be naive about it. And keep your kids protected."

'Clinton' and 'Toddler & Tiaras' scandals intrigue readers

    PBS' documentary "Clinton" airs Monday.

    By Anna Chan

Thought we had put the Bill Clinton-Monica Lewinsky impeachment scandal of the '90s behind us? Well think again. PBS is revisiting the topic with its documentary "Clinton" on Monday.

When we told you about the two-day, four-hour program on Wednesday, readers were quick to click, making it our No. 1 post of the week. But readers didn't just want to learn about the documentary and its focus (Lewinksy was not interviewed, FYI), they also wanted to have their say about our former president. And as it always happens with politics, readers were divided into pro and con camps.

"Clinton was a disgrace to our whole country. While he preached that families in the US were falling apart, he was screwing around and making (the) US a laughing stock internationally," wrote reader Samm Maine on our Facebook page.

"Wouldn't miss a show about one the greatest modern presidents in history. More world leaders should follow in his foosteps," wrote reader Jeff Crayton.

A scandal of a different sort drew readers to our second most popular post of the week. Readers have never been quiet about their distaste for (and sometimes, the inability to avert their eyes from) TLC's popular show "Toddlers & Tiaras." While viewers have often and loudly complained that what the pageant mothers do to their young daughters is just not right, the show's moms have defended their actions time and again.

In an effort to show the pageant mothers what it is their daughters go through, Anderson Cooper gave four of the ladies a pageant makeover on his show. Unfortunately for him, the "Toddlers" moms still didn't see the problem of putting their little girls in skimpy outfits and layers of makeup. But he tried, and readers saw that.

    Follow @TODAY_Clicker

"This makes me freakin love Anderson Cooper," wrote reader Margaret Rosenberg.

"He went the wrong way with this," said reader George McClellan. "The mother's dress their little girls as adults so instead of dressing the mother's as adults he should have dressed them as little girls."

"I hope Mr. Cooper can do something with this lot, but I highly doubt it," wrote Michael McDevitt. "Faith in ANYTHING is a hard thought process to change, regardless of how misplaced it is!"

The sudden shutdown of funnyman Stephen Colbert's "Colbert Report" came in at No. 3. The show has remained tight-lipped about the unexpected hiatus, but sources close to the show reportedly told The New York Post that the comedian's 91-year-old mother is "ailing." The news brought an outpouring of well wishes from readers, with many "speedy recovery" messages for his mother, and others hoping for the show's host's quick return.

Anderson Cooper gives 'Toddlers & Tiaras' moms a taste of their own medicine

Wendy and Paisley Dickey, Kayla and EverRose Sims, June Shannon and Alana Thompson, Alicia Morgan and Laci Crews are pageant-ready on "Anderson."

    By Anna Chan

TLC's "Toddlers & Tiaras" always shows little girls getting over-the-top dolled up for this beauty pageant and that. The young ladies spend hours in the makeup chair, a few more hours getting their hair (or sometimes, wig) done and then don outrageously expensive gowns and other custom-made costumes.

    Follow @TODAY_Clicker

But on Friday, fans and detractors of the popular series will see something a bit different when four "Toddlers" mamas and their tots -- Alana and mom June, EverRose and mom Kayla, Laci and mom Alicia, and Paisley and mom Wendy -- appear on "Anderson." The host, in an effort to get the mothers to see what their little girls go through for the pageants, gave the ladies a makeover, but not just any makeover -- they're dressed up in their daughters' favorite pageant looks.

But still, it didn't seem to change everyone's minds.

Dressed in a replica of her daughter's skin-tight pink frock, Alana "Honey Boo Boo Child's" mother, June, told Anderson Cooper that "yeah, the corset is a little tight." But that's no big deal to her. June said that her little girl enjoys pageants, so they'll keep doing it.

Cooper had mom Alicia in something a little more revealing -- a blue swimsuit-like Gaga getup that left the woman feeling "a little revealed right now." See what she had to say about the experience and what she learned (or didn't):

See what else the mothers had to say on "Anderson" when the show airs on Friday. Check listings for local air times.

Just when you thought (or maybe hoped) you'd seen it all from sassy "Toddlers & Tiaras" pageant kid Alana -- from her "Honey Boo Boo Child" talk to her special "Go-Go Juice" energy potion -- the tot proves she still has more surprises for TV viewers.

As a sneak peek for the episode reveals, Alana's mother stood stage-side and coached every move as the tyke attempted to make Hazzard County proud with her number. Audience members can be seen looking on, sometimes with awkward smiles and other times with open mouths.

As for Dr. Drew, he, evidently, approved of the routine. When it was over, he offered the pageant princess a crown, a sash and a new title: Lifechangers Grand Supreme.
